Back up Careers

I’d quite happily go back to driving fork lifts, nice steady number.

I don’t plan on returning to it, but I’m also a Ford trained master technician and I’m an mot tester. I have an hnd in automotive engineering and I’m qualified as an air conditioning diagnostic technician. So I don’t think I’ll be stuck.

I’m quite good at disposing of bodies, making it look like an accident etc… Not sure how to make any money out of it though, it’s more of a hobby.

I want as a second career to live at Jaywick Sands, be a bum and live off the social  but the Essex part of it puts me off :frowning:

That don’t mean the actual people doing the work on the ground are getting anything like a decent wage… pretty crap money from what I’ve been told… driver / bearers are only on about 15k per year they only make the money up by over time and night call… having to go out to collect the dead from where ever and when ever during none business hrs …ie nursing homes RTC’s, suicides, murders, for about £40 or so…have to do a crap loads of night call to make an half decent salary of about 18-19k but then it can be sporadic month to month…

Funeral arranger / directors are only on about 18 -20k…pretty rubbish if you ask me

I’m a qualified mental health nurse but to be honest there is not much difference in this line of work, except I can drive away only to find another prospective candidate for my previous profession. :unamused:

The state of the NHS made me move (1998)

i think id go and start up window cleaning. iv a friend who does it i have twice helped him out

not totally sure if i could hack it on ladders but he seems happy enough doing it for years with his gang of workers

Engineering. I could probably earn more money as an engineer for far less hours but it’s extremely tedious work and if I ever end up working in a factory again then my life has gone badly wrong somewhere :astonished:

My back up was signs and graphics, and it’s now taken over from driving. In a way I’m glad as I can earn half reasonable money without the hassle that goes with driving, but I do miss the trucks in a way.
I would love to do a days driving if it doesn’t involve getting up a silly o clock, and it’s not too much hassle etc, but picking and choosing the type of work is unacceptable to most firms, even agencies can’t promise much, so I’ll just carry on as I am and hope it keeps up.
I now find myself signwriting some of the trucks I used to drive, so it’s nice to keep in touch with the industry, which is why I still look at trucknet regularly, once it’s in the blood it never really goes away.
