Back to work

Hi fellow truckers
I had to have a long break from driving after being diagnosed with crohns disease. I have been unemployed for almost a year and half now and what to get back into work.
I’ve had enough of and don’t like being on benefits, sick notes, etc so now Iam determind to start driving again.
Since my diagnosis I have passed my C+E artic licence in the beginning of this year.
My only fear is that i lack confidence in reversing the artic especially after almost 11 months, I feel that I need more reversing lessons before I Sign up with any agency and fearing they throw me in the deep end on my first day.
Question is, becuase of my crohns, should I carry on with Cat C work? which is not ideal cause of all the lifting and pulling invovled or I’m better off with C+E work ? Which also has its downsides I.e norrow roads and London driving.
I live in north london any suggestions??

I can’t help with your question but you have my sympathies regarding the Crohns.

I had horrific ulcerative colitis culminating in disembowelment so have some idea what you’ve been through.

Both are properly horrid illnesses so well done on getting back to it. I don’t think you cab imagine how tough it is to live with unless you’ve suffered from it.

I know I’m in a bit of a different situation to you but for what it’s worth I am doing Cat C, plenty of lifting etc and coping fine with it.

I have health problems ( too many to list ) but nowt like what you have but I manage an arctic ok

If in doubt go to a training provider book a day or so as a refresher with plenty of reversing don’t shy away form the arctics though if you can get some kind of trunk ( with a pallet network type company ) then you are only really driving form point A -B then back to A drop swoop

BTW I am 147cm female 55 kg I manage fine with an arctic so go for it

don’t stress about reversing.just take your time and you’ll be fine.if there’s another driver about just tell him your a newbie and ask him/her to watch you back
