I am with Archie in a lot of ways yet I am younger than Ross. I went to Gaydon and was quite perturbed to see some 112 Scanias and an F10 :open_mouth:

When you get over your “shock” think about it, has he got to hide it in a cupboard for another ten years? when will it be old enough for the purists? That attitude is out of date, when our ERF was first restored 20yrs ago we heard the same stories. Give your head a shake, the “young whippersnapper” is preserving a piece of transport history. Good luck to him although I dont personally like all the bling and paint jobs that make vehicles look like a gypsy caravan lots of people do.

hiya,
Archie and myself are’nt “getting” at anybody just airing our own views surely we at our time in life are entitled to say what we think and it should’nt make one iota of difference to anybodyelse, i personally am knocking nothing but surely if i don’t like something, Travellers or Showmans motor springs to mind and was it in a line-up at a show i would show no interest and would’nt give it a second glance but spending time looking at the real antiques, it’s a modern lorry for goodness sake i’ve earned money driving older things than that, now i’ll dare bet that there are loads of people who love “the motor” and fair play to them remember, it takes all sorts to make a world, and would’nt it be a boring one if we was all on the same thought plain.Nuff Said.
thanks harry long retired.

Yes, jump down from you high horse and calm down. What I said was about going to Gaydon. I didnt go to see F10’s and Scanias that you can still see in Felixstowe and Hull earning a crust. It is called the Classic and Vintage Commercial Show for a reason.

The Scania will attract lots of admiring coos and goggle eyed stares from small boys at Truckfest Nationwide. It isn’t for me, and on this forum I am allowed my opinion, just like, Archie, Just like Harry and just like you!

A nice restored British truck to me is something that was working around 40 years ago, handpainted with traditional signwriting, not computer aided graphics and chrome.

hiya,
Well said that man those are my sentiments in a nutshell.
thanks harry long retired.

Harry, Wheel Nut & Archie I’m with you lot 100%.

I like em straight from work, they are’nt made to be polished they’re tools for earning. And while we are on it, if your gonna sheet a load on one for show please use used sheets as throwing a new tarp over looks ■■■■. All IMHO Chaps.

I may enter mine in the most corroded dirty alloys section if its not out earning one day!

What about the oldest ■■■■ bottle section too if we’re getting bolshy :open_mouth:

Nice truck m8, i’ve got pics of it when it was at Carnforth truckstop in 1994 when it belonged to Graham cordiner, looks really well for its age and i bet its got a few miles under its belt!!
