Hi folks just recently changed jobs from driving class 1 (c + e) for 8 years to driving class 2 (c) my mate reckons if I don’t drive artics for some time I will lose my entitlement I have never heard this before just wondered what everyone else thought?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year

Not true. All that will happen is that your lack of recent experience might count against you if you look for another artic driving job in the future. But you won’t lose your licence.

Tell your mate he is a twit - I had a 19 year break, all that changed was the trailers got 5 foot longer,

Reversing can catch you out after driving artics.

WHAT? yeah maybe if you don’t have a brain pal. :unamused:

A bit harsh, looks like I maybe don’t have a brain either then.
I had to move one out of a yard to get tipped one day recently, and I must admit it threw me at first.

I find that quite strange.Do you have a problem when you jump in your car?

No not at all, that is because clearly my car is a fraction of the length of a full size rigid truck, and as somebody else said, making the analogy of turning a supertanker in comparison.

I did have problems coming off left hookers back on to right hand drives though, so does that also make me not have a brain in your book.

Ha I don’t really get it.A rigid vehicle is a rigid vehicle be it a car or a truck. The steering process used is exactly the same.
When I jump from an artic to a rigid which is not very often TBH I have never had a problem.
I have also driven left hookers and the only thing I had to watch was that I was not hogging the centre of the road (in this country) too much but going back to right hand drive was never a problem for me.
We are all different but some of the zb on this forum astonishes me and that does not include you.

With me it was my brain telling me to hog the kerbside, as you do in a left ■■■■■■, so I kept ‘kerbing’ the nearside wheel on rhd.s. …took about a month to sort it, and a couple of scuffed tyrewalls. :unamused:
The wife was a nervous wreck at weekends in the car, but at least it made her volunteer to do all the weekend driving, so not all bad .
