Back on the road after 5 years

It’s my first shift on sunday,i’m back on the road after 5 years of shunting,

When i packed up driving, sat navs hadn’t been needed in my job as i had regular destinations, and entertainment was a digital tv,which was just starting to get going, now were all digital

So the question is,Am i better getting a satnav and using my old tv,?
Or going and getting a laptop, with both sat nav and tv on it,also to use it for internet when parked up.

I don’t know what sort of data allowance i would need, probably spend a few hours a day just surfing,
So to go for a pay as you go dongle or a regular plan,

any help would be appreciated
regards

There will be times when you can’t get a signal for the laptop so I’d suggest a satnav backed up by the truckers atlas and laptop should cover all bases for you.

Have you thought of an iPad, my other half bought me one, and I must say its been a god send, you can download numerous sat navs , maps, and watch tv on iplayer, if you want to watch normal tv, I’d get a 19 or 22 inch tv/dvd, from tesco and run it of a 30 watt inverter, and a 12v powered arial of EBay, they work a treat makes nights out more comfortable…
