Back after 7 years

Im back in to HGV class 1 after 7 years out of the business
I was pleasantly surprised to pick it right back up
However having to have the medical because I’ve turned 45 meant I had to wait quite sometime, even as a critical worker for my license
So, im with an agency, but I signed up with 4
Does anyone else agree that most agencies are just collecting drivers details and don’t actually have the work they have advertised and can anyone recommend the highest paying agency work south of the Midlands?

Correct

Now Christmas is over, some of the agencies tend not to start extra drivers because work tend to drop a bit. Though saying that last couple of years things been flat out straight through the year.

When you say South of the midlands, could you narrow it down a bit?

Agencies have always advertised good work for £15.00 per hour. Driver comes along thinking I will bite that cherry. Agency says that job has gone but here is one at £10.00 per hour. Same old same old.

Staffline H & G ADR all worth a look on their websites.

Problem you may have is you been away from driving for 7 years and that my cause a problem with their insurance.

Have considered full-time? It might be better until you get up to speed.

yeah got some decent work with drvierhire (i know i was surprised)
Staffline have been useless
dont return calls and dont have any of the jobs they advertise

ref question of location
literally dorset to midlands to london triangle is where i can travel too

I’ve just gone 45 and not got round to having a medical, i’m fit and healthy, not overweight so i’ll just crack on and keep driving. Does anybody actually check if you’ve had a medical, i expected dvla to inform me prior to turning 45 but not heard anything

Check your online driving record
your HGV license gets removed and if you renew your license it disappears
I’d do the medical pal

Doesn’t your license have an expiry date?

Aye, think i best do it

Aye, think i best do it

Why?
Your license has an expiry date. Stick to that and renew it before it expires.

Your licence entitlement will end the day before your 45th birthday, and can only be extended upon the completion of a medical. I know the DVLA aren’t great, but they aren’t that stupid

I don’t think that’s correct. Your licence expires 5 years after your last renewal. If that renewal is at least 56 days before your 45th birthday you just complete the forms (including a medical self-declaration) and you’ll get another 5 years, which may well take you up to age 49.

When did it start? 10/12/20? Or did anything happen on that date?
