This looked a right handful today but fair do’s the driver got it in with the minimum of fuss.
I don’t get why it was an handful?, Short wheelbase, very easy to reverse, I know because I had one the same.
neat little thing
Ive never seen a Tl with a under bumper spoiler before .
I learnt and took me test in one of them, I even passed.
Not showin off just sayin honest
Come round quick don’t they
Typical Bedford unit - they always seem to have the most enormous trailer and load behind them.

I can’t see it either. Long pm and short trailer… that’s a bloody handful.

Looks like it could be an awd model with a retro bedford grille on perhaps ?
You know I was only thinking that last night ,by 1990 iam sure it should be carrying the AWD badge .
Chap called Brian had one of them on Pearsons in Bristol he’d collect and run between the DRG sites, had a flat trailer with a side rave carrying shrunk wrapped card ( everything from ■■■ boxes to Sarah Lee cake boxes etc, never ever saw a sheet or rope even when it snowed.
Twin axel right on the back of the trailer, top old school driver he was .
That AWD/Bedford looks to be the right sort of vehicle for getting in and out of small canal side boatyards.
Bedfords/AWD and boats. What a great combination! Looks smart and fun to drive!

Back in the late 1980’s I worked for Rainbows of Southwell, Notts who as well as being one of the founders of Nightfreight were Bedford dealers. I remember the last few Bedfords coming out with that type of spoiler on, probably a factory option. TL was a good motor for parcels work. Wasn’t a bad urban tractor unit either, that cab might’ve been basic but the all-round visibility puts a lot of modern stuff to shame.
I’d quite happily swap my pile of rubbish auto scania for that any day
A Bedford TL Rigid Tipper, was the first lorry I ever went in.
Dad used to haul corn in it.
When the old girl was past it, he had the tipper body removed and sent away to be mounted onto a new chassis to be pulled behind a tractor for field use.
