Had an interesting 15 min chat with the DSA today about what will upgrade what come 01/01/2014
The driver has a manual B licence
The driver then passes these in auto - D C C+E and then gets D1 D1+E D D+E C1 C1+E C C+E in manual AND they also get B+E manual
The driver who takes B+E only (no C or D categories) in auto will only get B+E auto
So it seems form the DSA that manual B will upgrade C+E auto test to manual but will not upgrade a B+E only test to manual - so the little B manual will upgrade the massive C+E but not the lowly B+E … EH !! - is that logical or not?
In NI a driver who has manual B then passes auto B+E gets manual B+E
As many LGV training schools also do B+E then its a daft situation if it does work out that way
