2 Sisters site on Lincoln Street in Wolverhamton. You can’t even turn a 26 tonner in the yard without a 10 point turn, yet they expect you to get an artic on the single bay round the back, which has a brick wall about 100ft in front of it, and the area to the right is full of bins and general ■■■■ - the area you need you swing the front end onto so that the trailer back doors are vaguely in line with the bay behind you. There’s no room to manoeuvre at all and on top of that the yard is on a considerable uphill incline.

Did anyone ever go to Hinzs kitt green wigan in the late 80s. Now that was blind side between 2 parked turck with no one watching and fork lifts dashing all over the place a long with the tractor trains they had at the time.
My god was it a pain with a twin steer 2035 merc with not windows in the rear of the cab. Much better with one of the 1628s 4x2s lol]
Those bays still get used, I loaded out of one for Tesco Goole recently, 6am & raining heavy with no lighting at…nightmare!
Another pet hate was reversing onto the ‘cometer’ at Sonae. Straight reverse but backing into a dark dusty shed when the sun is in your eyes is complete pain. Especially with a loaded chipliner.
(again doubt immigrant will agree)

3663 at Paddock Wood springs to mind (with a frozen load anyway). Brand new site but bays built that close to the fence that if you have a truck either side you aint going anywhere until one of them moves.
Designed by a suit with an “ology” obviously.
I work for 3663 and can confirm paddock wood is a nightmare, always busy too!
Not so bad for me I’m in a 18t rigid scania but there isn’t a great deal of room to manoeuvre.
No one who worked for White Arrow back in the 90s would have trouble with those. Trailers with no overhang at the back and all parked barely a foot apart with just enough space between the rows to turn.
Some of the bays at Longbridge were a blindside reverse with a wall tight against the driver’s side and very little room for shunting.
With Blake’s I used to collect from some place in N Wales. They had 5 or 6 bays on a long warehouse wall and a huge, empty concrete yard. There were no rails or lines of any kind and rarely any other trucks on the bays. I never could get dead square on those bays - even after 3 or 4 shunts. Most of Blake’s ERFs had a broken passenger side step due to a really awkward bay in a bakery in Wellingborough.

You want to try getting on the ambient bays there, the first one isn’t to bad even though it is on your blindside, they use the middle one for rigids so if you get the far end one, it makes for intresting shunting.
It must be something about 3663 because the one at Harlow involves you heading out the gate to get back on the ambient bay, the pavment on the left is now well chewed up and the gate post on the right has a few scuffs.
Bidvest (3663) at Banbury makes for intresting reversing to get on the bay as there is not much room in front of them.
And the one I hate most of all Lidl at Weston Super Mare, a whole row of bays and they only use a few next to each other, again no room in front with the trucks parked opposite that don’t seem to be able to reverse up to the blocks.

The bays I was talking about were in between to buildings with a roof joining them, I thought when they made the new bays but still on your blind side the others got closed off?

I have been to Harlow too and your right its a tiny depot and if you get there after 12 midday their drivers queue on the road to unload their empties etc… So makes for a interesting drop!
