Away over Xmas?

As it says on the tin…who`s working away over xmas?

Are you sitting at some far flung service station or parking area all alone in the truck reading this over the xmas period?..or does anyone know someone whos out and far, far away?

I spent two xmas`s working away, one driving and the second stuck in a poxy hotel room for xmas and boxing day…everything shut and very depressing

Where ever you are, merry xmas

I have spent one away working and vowed never again. Ham and eggs for Xmas dinner was not my cup of tea. Mind you, I have cut it close more than once. I only got back from Spain yesterday and am shipping out again Boxing Day.

I’ve been away on Christmas Day… it felt weird writing 25/12 on the tacho card. I spent Christmas Eve parked in a petrol station at Novgorod and drove from there to Moscow on Christmas Day. It was just a normal working day there though, Russkies do Christmas on January 6th.

My mother in law told me that yesterday. (the bit about celebrating xmas on jan 6th  )
We were talking about holidays and she reckoned the greeks being orthodox catholics did xmas on 6th jan?
You learn something every day eh?
Sorry to divert off thread

Was working away one “orthodox” christmas…kept getting glasses of home brewed “slivovitz” forced on me!!

Murky, grey stuff that looked like dishwater with bits of something floating in it but tasted like you could fly the space shuttle on it :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Like harry said though, if I was driving abroad away from home over xmas I would prefer it to be just another working day and keep driving rather than have to park somewhere and sit it out

Today In Heston MSA, saw some poor drivers -

3 x Romanian trucks
2 x Polish trucks
1 x Luxembourg truck
1 x German truck
6 x Spainish trucks with bulgarian drivers
2 x Bulgarian truck - Biomet

also saw some irish trucks on M4/ M25 today, must be they chase down as hurry due the last ferry before xmas

About 8 or 9 CFS ( cranleigh freight services) will be away over christmas and a few of us will be away for new years the joy of airfreight it never stops! Merry xmas!

Even the Belgians are wierd and celebrate some paedophiles birthday in early December. Christmas day is a day off but dont count on a weekend

It actually makes quite a change for me to be at home over the normal christmas period.

Was in iraq last xmas and new year, depressed. vowed i’d make it back this year.

ok i take great offence to this, just because we have the 1 famous paedofile in euorpe it gives teh whole country a bad name… .how come you dont comment on austria with mr fritzl who managed to keep his daughter captive for 24 yrs or mr Clive Richards, who lives with his young missus in cornwall. Just because one person makes the headlines in a county it dosent me you have to gerneralise on it. Ok Belgium as a bad name for this sort of thing but what makes u think its worse then England or any other country

im away for christmas, just the way i like it!!! bah humbug!!

enjoy the day if its your thing!!

I Say plenty good enough for them i hope there night heaters dont work, they get wheel clamped and there washing lines snap. whats the betting the german and lux truck are manned by easterners, and as for the irish motors they will be all talibanned up anyway.

It’s nice to see that the spirit of Christmas is alive and well!

as much as i like the original two posters, i have to say the comments were uncalled for IMHO - we in UK have the likes of the animal who fathered 19 kids by his own daughters FFS, people who live in glasshouses…

what was more deplorable about the belgian cases was that there was “obviously” high level involvement and cover up, but the country doesn’t deserve to be pilloried for evermore about it - just my thoughts
