Across to Grantown on spey and up A939/A940, or up to Inverness and across, max weight 60ft trailer, any regulars have an opinion?
I know Inverness is the easy way but i.ve never been up the 939 so not sure what its like

There’s an arch bridge just north of Grantown that’s marked at 16 feet and on a double bend, so probably best to go via Inverness if you’re pulling a double decker. Otherwise it’s a nice drive over the moor.
No issues with height just max weight and slightly long but sounds like the A939 is the way to go
With a 60ft trailer I would probably opt for the Inverness route.
On the A940 there is a sharp left then right onto a narrow bridge over the river Divie with no chance of getting turned if you don’t make it.
Staying on the A939 to Nairn is an option but there is also a sharp bend on to a bridge just after the A940 split .
Or take the scenic route up to Elgin and across to Forress. Shame to miss out on the whiskey trail when up that way. not much use if your tight for time though.

Not when i.m paying for the diesel , looks like the plan is up to Inverness and across and then back via the 939 once empty so i can reccy it for future reference, cheers fellas cant beat a bit of local knowledge

Whiskey trail from Elgin to Aviemore… amazing road
When are you heading up?
Whats this whisky trail then? I regulary come off at Aviemore on the A95 across to Grantown on Spey through Aberlour onto the A941 to Rothes where i take the B9015 up to Fochabers, is any of this route the road you mean?
I had to be nosey and looked on Google,I would say going via Inverness would be best with your motor. Its about 10 miles longer but would be A roads all the way.
