Availability time question please help

Ok i started new job and confused with hours little bit so;
If i start at 5 am and drive for half hour then i wait in front of other lorries for+~ 2 hours i put in availability,but after when im doing curtains changing to other work.do i have to do brake no longer than 6 hours from 5 am? I expect this to hapenning alot i mean for ex;
1 hour drive 2 waiting time any useful links would be helpful because i used to start at 6.30 and left it in other work no matter what.
Then 12 oclock brake and finish at 5…but now i will finish lot later cos of waiting time so confused a bit

poa and break, stops the clock for the wtd. only work counts - so driving and other work!

so start at 5, half hour drive then 2 hours on poa, then other work / driving would mean a wtd break would be needed by 1300

Thanks

The working time regulations state that you must not go over 6 hours working time without a break, as stevieboy308 said POA and break do not count as working time for the working time regulations.

So you can do 6 hours working time plus any POA before needing to have the 15 minute break.

Be aware though that a digital tachograph wrongly counts POA as break and will reset the driving time on the tachograph display if the POA amounts to 45 minutes or more, however legally your driving time is not reset by POA so you need to keep a record of your driving time.

Do you need to use POA ?
If your company pay for breaks or breaks after the first 45 minutes as most companies do, you would generally be better off booking break rather than POA, break doesn’t mess the driving time up on a digital tachograph like POA does.
