autonomous

what do autonomous trucks do when confronted by a crossroads/roadworks where the lights have failed? Do they do as we do and just wait 30 seconds then creep across employing all lights, hazards and Horns?

treat it as an unmarked junction and proceed with caution

I would like to know how they deal with inevitable collisions;

How would they be programmed for wildlife or pets, if for instance a deer or a dog ran out and there was no one behind, would it brake hard, give it a chance by braking a little, just ease off the power to give it a little chance or would it just splatter it. Would it avoid killing someones pet dog even if the harsh braking caused an inattentive tailgater to dint their bonnet?

Would it distinguish between a child running along the pavement and an adult walking on the pavement, in the case of the child would it slow and move out a little ? if the child did run out would it avoid the child be crashing into an oncoming vehicle?

Computers must always have instructions and I’m curious to what moral ideals they will be programmed to follow.
