But John Krafcik, the newly appointed president of Google’s self-driving car project, said earlier this week that allowing humans to intervene could actually make a crash more likely.
What about this bit. It seems to make a lot of sense.
I’m sure one day there will be fully Autonomous cars but I think we’re a long way from it yet.
It’s interesting but not surprising, to note that the information had to be prized out of Google just as I’m sure detailed information will have to be prized out of other companies who are developing Autonomous cars, the risks are to great to rely on these large companies being transparent about test results.

But he’s not exactly unbiased is he, frankly I wouldn’t trust what any of these large companies say without independent verification.

And that is what we will have to wait for, to get any meaningful information about the reliability/fallibility of these things.
Or for a test driver to turn whistle blower, but that’s unlikely as I’m sure they would be ■■■■■■■ on a Non Disclosure Agreement tighter than a ducks arse!
