Because when he passes and goes to his first job at boge it and scarper haulage then hell actually know how to drive a manual and not bottle it when he’s given an e reg 18 tonner to drive.

Why would that be most experienced drivers on here manage to pass in a manual truck why should it be any different now. You’ve less to think about as most trucks are auto. But if you get given a manual to drive your not going to have a heart attack and tell the company sorry I cant drive that
Fortunalt I had to learn to either double de clutch or not use the and time the revs as the sychro was broken.

You’re coming across as a bit of ■■■■ with an attitude like that. It’s called adapting, you learn to drive what you’re given. Auto or manual, artic or W+D, it doesn’t matter because you’re now a professional driver, you adapt.

You’re coming across as a bit of ■■■■ with an attitude like that. It’s called adapting, you learn to drive what you’re given. Auto or manual, artic or W+D, it doesn’t matter because you’re now a professional driver, you adapt.

Posts… Not post! I don’t think that is that harsh at all, I say if it will make passing easier fair enough.
Thing is up here if you pass in a w&d you wont get a job driving one (I know of two companies that run them) you might aswell get it over with and get a full trailer on, same as the manual situation’ you will have to master it at some point…
Yes we don’t set the rules on what you can use and what that entitles you to drive but answer this… My mate les had the old cat c license when you could drive a w&d onit… He wanted his class one and ended up sitting his c+e in what he could already drive?? That just doesn’t make sense to me…
We’ll have to agree to disagree this could go on some time

I passed in a auto and previously failed twice in a manual.
I’m happy I got to drive a manual, I would have hated just driving an auto then when I got to my first job after passing it was a manual! It was only a 6 speed manual but the manual I’d learnt in previously was a 4 over 4.
I got on well with the manual box on my lessons etc and I wouldn’t say it caused me to fail but when doing my test again in the auto it was easier to think of what I’m doing, what I need to do next etc, didn’t need to think about gears at all.
Personally I’d go for a auto but only if you can arrange sometime in a manual truck too.
Auto is just gonna make your test that bit easier but you do need to drive a manual prior to going for a job.
And thats the problem. If you cant pass in a manual , then do in an auto are you really safe to be out on your own or even driving if cant cope with the basics.
