I’ve been on Scania today and the automatic gear stick is on a stalk next to the wheel, how do I select low range reverse ?
Just flick it to reverse. The box will select reverse low automatically.
It does but not low range
Push or pull the stalk to change gear manually.
Pretty sure on our older scania when selecting R if you held it for a few seconds it selected RL
Can’t check as its been replaced for a DAF, but remember I had to do something like that to get low.
Thankfully my Scania’s a manual, until it gets replaced in a few weeks and I hope stays a manual
Thanks I’ll try that
Yes hold it down long enough and you can get a lower/crawler gear, forward or reverse…actually it may not be a lower gear as such in manouevering mode but as with ZF’s Arsetronic it limits the speed and revs to near enough controllable.
TBH most of the modern auto lorries don’t have a low enough manouever gear for really tight spots or picking up trailers, and the on/off switch auto clutches on some don’t help.
Turn it to R. On the dash it will show R1 or R2. To flick between the two push stalk away from you. For low range you need to be in R1
