Easy solution that saves a lot of [zb] about .
20 tonne bottle jack, lift the tractor axle to unload the syncros, start the engine in gear and build the air for the shifter.
If the air has dropped so far that the brakes are locked wind off the spring brake on that wheel.
Saves unbolting bloody half shafts and getting bitched at for oil spill in a Macdonalds drive through!
Dont ask.

Tut tut, no loyalty to your username.
just one minor problem, you cannot start a auto if its in gear no matter what axle you jack up
Yes you can !
Billbigwheels:
Yes you can !
not without disconnecting the electronics that prevent you from doing so

no you cant
I drive an mp4, leave it in gear when you switch off and it will restart without putting into neutral.

its faulty then

So you never heard of a diff if one wheel is off the ground the gearbox can turn without load ffs I thought some on here had a little knowledge.
I had this happen to me where the vehicle which was a MAN stalled because the air pressure dropped whilst parking ( compressor fault ) the only thing to do was call out the breakdown boys, they connected an air line and blew air into the system until i could get it out of gear.
If you say so !
where’s m1ck with the pop corn
Can’t see why you’d ■■■■ about doing anything but refilling it with air.

The issue only arises when there is a fault causing a loss of air pressure. Normal day to day it shouldn’t be an issue if you switch off in gear.

I do

perhaps that was too easy

If you switch our Actros’ off in gear it jumps into neutral first. These are the older models mind, not tested it in our MP4s yet.
Just done a turrners actros blocking the depot.started it put in gear but as soon as he realeased brakes the pressure drops to fill the spring brakes and it stalled and locked in gear.with the actros you got to unplug the stupid auto diff lock electric plug or the stupid bloody thing stalls again before you got full tank pressure or jack up both sides of theaxle
