The beauty of flat tops, it usually blew off.
I have it on good authority that apparently some person was hooking along Foreshore Drive (Botany) one morning some years ago when a 4’ section of 3mm MDF sheared off just in front of the retaining strap and ummm… interfered with the vision of a following motorist. I don’t want to dob anyone in, but he’s a dead ringer for me…
Impressive sleeper! Could use something similar over here!
I’ve seen smaller caravans. ![]()
Got to have somewhere to keep your sheep eh SDU ![]()
You say that: I got eleven bales of straw in my 1975 BL Maxi - roomy wasn’t the word! Wonderful motor for its day, and one of the first 5-speed gearboxes in UK.
And yes, in case you are wondering, that is a Toyboy twixt my two Maxis. Fantastic piece of kit but really hard to get hold of. I borrowed mine from the local Gypsies, who I knew well at the time.
As I pulled into the local Paccar stealership this morning to make a drop, this thing
… was on the other side of the road and just about to leave. I’d have taken a couple of snaps myself had I had the chance. It’s a K220 tridem (don’t ask me, ask SDU) with quad-axle trailer. I’m not a big KW fan myself but it looked very impressive and there is a story behind it.
11 bales of straw in a Maxi would have quadrupled ( i dont know the word for eleven times) the value of the car ![]()
I bet the driver would have had severe neck ache if he was driving that long distance
It did! I eventually chopped it in for an old Rover 95 and when the new owner of my Maxi opened the hatch back, he exclaimed, “Here mate, there’s a young field growing in the back of this!”
I still got away with the Rover ![]()
Proper Rovers the 95s
I loved them. I had a Rover 100 then a 95. Beautiful cars.
One of my neighbours likes his Rovers he’s had a few the last a Rover 2000 he’s got a Dolomite at the moment though but i think he’s selling it
