Cheesy music, action shots and an Australian narrator imitating a British English accent - it’s got the lot. Well worth the watch, might jog some memories for @spardo and @star_down_under
Didn’t understand a word of it, thank goodness for the Swedish sub titles though.
More seriously though, some memories were kindled but my experience was somewhat earlier than that, no cabovers, no sleepers, no co-drivers (apart from my ‘training’ runs) and no tri axles. It was bad enough *h umping heavy wheels around several times a trip without having those great big singles to contend with.
No CB either, it would have been a lonely job but for the fact that we tended to run in convoy due to the size of the herds required to be moved, so there were a couple of stops along the way when we could get together for a feed and a yarn.
Best of all, no handballing general cargo either, apart from my local job in Darwin before my Buntine days, all my loads walked on and off by themselves.
*Bloody hell, the blokes who set up this site had some filthy one track minds, didn’t they?’
Wagon Train, what is the muscle at the front?
A question for SDU , are Australian wives very trusting? The reason i’m asking is that after watching Aussie Outback Gold Hunters i think they must be.There’s a bloke on the show that’s miles away from anywhere with a young lady that can at the very least be described as very healthy and they are living in tents for weeks on end. Not sure i would get away with that, if i take longer than 5 minutes to go to the bar and back i’m interrogated and i’m african sunset (ginger)
Dunno, mine was, but I never gave her cause not to be.
I reckon it has to be considered on a case by case basis. I don’t think nationality has any bearing.
Dunno Oily, but it looks Terex green.
That method of stiff barring used to be quite common, before the major highwayswere sealed. The more trucks the better. If you could get traction both sides of the problem area, you had a good chance of beating Mother Nature.
A bit long, but I reckon Franglias will enjoy it. Hopefully more of you will find it interesting.
These guys aren’t exaggerating, those weather conditions are once in a generation, if not longer. I’m planning a three corners* trip for next year, the final route is still undecided, until we get up to date information on road closures, or maybe road openings.
- Queensland borders New South Wales to the south, Northern Territory to the west and South Australia to the south west. See attached map of the three corners.
@parkroyal 2100 bit cool in your neck of the woods, eh?
Chuffing cold, bit like Scotland in winter. Snow/ sleet on Saturday and overnight, ~ an inch of snow settled overnight but it was all gone by lunchtime Sunday, the rest of Sunday and all Monday it was wet sleet/ rain with strong SW winds. Positively balmy here today, 6C so they claim, didn’t bl00dy feel like it.
Have you moved to another country???
@ramone The desert, or anywhere away from the coast can get ridiculously cold. With no moisture in the atmosphere to stabilise the temperature, I’ve experienced +35⁰C during the day, plummet to -5⁰C overnight, in central north Queensland, well into the tropical zone.
Same in the Middle East and North Africa
Not as far as I know. Mind you my… my …what’s the word? thingy. Where was I? And who the hell are you anyway?
Very good, what breed is the pup? The top of the hill did get a few inches and as far as I know most is probably still there.
Well we’re due a heatwave this week … just saying. Mind i’ll believe it when i see it and if it arrives we will be punished with a month of wind and rain afterwards
That’s the very rare Southern Polar Bear.
Her name is Roxy, she’s 15 years old. Isn’t she a husky?
You might find this interesting or you might not. TNT a name that’s on its way out.Note the Aussie Atki and the tyres in the last shot that have taken a battering
Back then 10.00 rags were still common and they didn’t stand up to heat well.
I saw that a few days ago and wondered why on earth they had a tandem trailer in front of a tri. Best, and safest, practice is to have the trailers in decending weight.
