Isn’t it strange that in this era of every thing being 24/7 we still go through the ritual of August being the annual shut down month and the international transport industry drying up. I know a lot of people are on holiday but with many industry’s staggering their holidays and keeping factories open for economic reasons and people still shopping 24/7 i find it a little odd that things go so quiet. but then that’s just me…
we’re all off come august, as we get back off trips we wash the trucks and go home then come back at the end of the month to load up for septembers deliveries. it gets too hot here in august so most places shut especially the steelworks where we load from
Whe working for Longies I had to reload of a harvester at a lettuce plantation somewhere inland from Benidorm for Boston Lincs during August and the heat was so unbearable it was impossible to work outside until it had cooled down a bit. That was when my cheddar cheese slices melted in the Scania fitted fridge, which was going at full tilt.

its not really an enforced holiday, when you start your told august is mostly all holiday plus dec 21 to jan after 3 kings day, if we don’t want august we can take any time but its hard work in august as our biggest customer shuts down plus my daughter is off school
and i’d rather not be doing curtain opening and pumping pallets in over 40c thanks
yes we do get paid all holidays plus 18 days a year bank holidays and we get 14 months pay a year as well
It’s alright for some, couple of weeks on 'la playa" would be just the job right now. Give Andys beach, just on the Marbella side of Cabopino a crack. Fantastic beach bar, wish i was there right now with a plate of sardines and a couple of tubo’s.
