Audio books

I like to read books but I’m an idiot! (so my wife says…) I’m really slow! So as I’ve had a couple of longer than normal trips planned up north recently and I decided to purchase an audio book (steve jobs biography) and I have thoroughly enjoyed it, the only problem now is I’m half way through the story and back to stop start in and out the cab work! A little bit frustrating as I forget what track I was on ect.

Just wondering if anyone listens to audio books? Maybe learns a language? While driving. And if so, do they distract you? Or do you find you can’t concentrate on the book and miss bits due to focusing on what’s happening in front.

One thing that has happened is that the narrators voice is stuck in my head! He’s narrating my thoughts!

You don’t have to buy them you “find” them on tinternet, keep them on your desktop and transfer to an Ipod.

This is true, I bought one in cd form to pass onto my dad who also drives a lot, he wouldn’t grasp downloading as he only just grasps how to turn a computer on.

The only downside really is its 20 CDs!

I always used to take audio books with me for when the radio got boring. Got through some seriously long books that way, if you are not so good on PC thingy for downloads etc may I suggest another avenue to look into is your local library. Ours have a good selection and you can order titles in from other libraries on some kind of inter library loan thingy. If you like a good story I can recommend anything by Conn Iggulden (excuse name spelling not entirely sure how its spelled or it might even be his brother lol!!) as he wrote a good series (fictional) on Genghis khan well worth a listen to!

Yes i started listening to them about a month ago and now cant get enough of them i go to the library, got a good selection

I have a complete russian language course on my I pod which i sometimes use to practise when i’m driving!

How do you find it? Do you repeat it out loud?

I would like to learn Spanish and I’m thinking that’s what I might do next.
