Yes Billy Luntley did have it after Fred, I think he went to Waughies as a fitter after that, He then went to Fergies,& ended up as fleet engineer, but for some reason or other he got blown out, I think it was something to do with a Hyab Crane, he ordered the wrong spec, But sadley to say he had a heart attack shortley afterwards, I do think he recovered ok. but ive not seen him around, but Im sure he has recovered ok. Regards Larry.
Dents Spennymoor bought there first Atkinsons from Theater Garage in 1954. Four twin steers DGR962-3-4&5 (sunderland reg.) five pot gardners five speed D/B direct g/box,32mph max. but not bad when they had 20mph plates on the back. Theater gararge stoped being agents befor 1960.
Well thats just jogged my memmory, 645NVK, that I mentioned before, was a cancelled order McPhees didnt want it so Baxters Road Services took it . It was a longer wheel base as I recall, the reason for this I was told was to do with McPhees loads of long lengths of steel. so it probabley came from Scotts. Regards Larry.
I also think that McPhees had some Atkis from a firm called Knightingale they were A/Ds from London. I cant remember their address, but it may come back to me, Regards Larry

Hi Larry Nightingales Engineering Nightingale Lane, Balham, were the Atki agents for London.I think thay later became Atkinson Vehicals (London) Ltd regards Ken
It sounds like it may be the same Fred Jones as he would have knew Bill Luntley well, he was a young fitter at the time I went to Ellis, I think he served his time at Adams and Gibbon. Met up with him years later at Fergies, a little bit more serious then but daft as a brush in the early days, me and my two mates as apprentices never seemed to stop laughing. Bill turned a motor over one evening on road test, I would have been on the test too as I worked on the wagon with him but my hours were up and I went home (must have been limited to overtime then) They finished him for the accident. There was a fine set of fitters there with Bill, Ian Forrest, Fred Jones, Dave Burns, Tommy Heads, old Roy Moon and a lad just served his time called Paul Sore, he went off to drive for Jakey’s. One of my mates went to Rutherford Bros as a fitter and the other Phil Webster started his own plant haulage business (next door to Hoggy) after a spell at Turks. I had heard Bill had a heart condition so hope he’s ok thesedays.
Another Atki dealer Prices at Earl Shilton Leics. , im sure they were in New Street, but I could be wrong. Regards Larry

The link was a little closer than that, Ken: it was the owners of Nightingale Garage, the Allen family, who bought Atkinson in 1933. Yes, they did create Atkinson Vehicles (London) Limited later on too, although Nightingale Garage remained as an entity.
Great info lads, thank you Larry
There you are lads just to put you out of your misery trying to think of any more, this list is from a 1969 issue of CM. Its actually for the Ipswich dealer Ben Cooper but listed these others. Nearest one to the Northeast is Stockton on here.
Cheers Franky.
