Franz from the LKWFOTOFORUM has asked me for some information.

He is looking for pictures of a Black Globetrotter F10/F12 that pulled a green Davies Turner Jumbo trailer sometime between 1990 and 1994. Also possible that he did Middle East at some time. :unamused:

Franz worked at Spedition Atege / Gondrand in Munich and “John” loaded groupage from them for DT’s in London. He mentions that he used to supply Franz with Dunhill Cigarettes and that he bought himself Bavarian Beer to drink at home in the UK.

It is possible that John is dead now from some news received, he just wanted any information, whilst he is looking for an old German fridge company for me.

Come on lads, it is a long shot, but someone may have a picture in their collections.

This side ramp was normaly our “TÃœRKEI” Rampe> Turkey ramp.

By the way, news to your Mevissen question: someone of the lff fellows made an interesting comment:

Wenn das schon Anfang der 80er gewesen sein soll mit den Mevissen Volvo´s kann es sein, das es die heutige Mevissen Nutzfahrzeughandel und Reperatur GmbH war.
Die Firma ist nämlich aus einem Transportunternehmen entstanden. Es wurden doch auch Mirofret Fahrzeuge nach Deutschland importiert gehandelt. Davor war der Senior Chef Transportunternehmer fßr Obst und Gemßse.
Die wurden von den Mevissen Volvo´s in Spanien abgeholt. Sicherlich wurden die Fahrzeuge nicht leer von Alicante nach Waldfeucht gefahren. Sondern es wurde Obst und Gemüse transportiert.
Mevissen hat die Vertretung/Importeur fßr Mirofret Fahrzeuge nicht mehr. Umgezogen ist die Firma jetzt wieder nach Erkelenz.
Weiß nicht ob noch Fahrzeuge zum Auflieger ausliefern vorhanden sind. Reine Transportdiestleistung gibts jetzt in dem Unternehmen gar nicht mehr.

English in short words: Before MEVISSEN specialised in selling frigos, they did transports of fruit also.
To this time, they were the dealer of MIROFRET Trailers in germany.

Their HP is in contruction at the moment,maybe you will find pic on the gallery if the hp is relaunched.

I used to load out of there regularly between 1989 and 1992 and I remember the black Globetrotter with the DT trailer but can’t remember anything about the driver, although I’m sure we ran back to Zeebrugge together a couple of times and he had some good stories. I don’t have any pictures of the truck in question.

Thanks for your update Franz, someone may have some pictures or stories of Mevissen and the meals at The fish restaurant outside Piraeus
