at a crossroads

Hi all alto i have popped in here on many occasions i never joined the forum up until now
having passed my test some years ago after being a commercial tyre fitter, from car to class 1
having then my own 17 ton flat bed and tow able forklift for a few years (transport manager as no cpc only passed 1 module )
ill health, sold lorry pick up forklift , then worked shifts in a factory making upvc powder for a windows company for the last ten years.
Speaking to the various tanker drivers coming in daily about wages life jokes ect always thought for the hrs, 4 on 4 off it was a fair paying job with 4 days off every week anyway told of redundancy a year ago which finally happen 30th nov .
Now i often thought about getting my medical but was quite happy where i was (bone idle laid back ect ) but never did, fast forward
im now 53/ 54 this year and looking at my job prospects it looking bleak .
So with reading the medical tread brum £35 now phoned today for price, getting my medical form & digi card form d4 d2 and form d777b is it worth it knowing i have still got to do driver cpc ■■ just looked at when i passed 1996
any advice would be welcome be blunt as you like and no sorry to here your redundant
thanks

You’ll be ok for driver CPC until later this year. I don’t think any employer will look at employing you without it now we are so close to the expiration of the grandfather rights of the DCPC.
I think to be honest you will find it a struggle getting work but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. You only have to read some of the stories on here to see how having the determination and a good attitude can help.
Good luck with what you decide.
