That is some outstanding model making Dave.

What actual size is it? I say actual because all this 1:50 business doesn’t tell me a lot.

…and equally outstanding photography. It was only when I read this post that I realised it was a model. Even now I know, it still looks like a full-size one!

hi david,

what this 1:50 business means is, if it says 1:50 scale its 50 times smaller than the original truck, if its 1:24 scale its 24 times smaller, as with the pictures shown of the chris hooper transcon, so it will be approx 3ft long & 8inch high, i hope this helps

cheers

Hello all, great to see the thread still thriving, just shows there is still a massive interest in the M/E (and further) runs.

Was just flicking around facebbok and found a page called “Old TIR”. Plenty of memories on there. One of the companies pics shown on there was a company from Gillingham called Birdales. Obviously got around abit as there is a pic of one of their Scania 140`s taken in 1976 outside the railway station in Rawalpindi in Pakistahn!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

As this thread now goes back quite a few years and a few thousand posts,im sure they may have been mentioned before but I cant say i recall it. Any of the ex M/E chaps here from back in the day remember them?

Hi all.Bullitt.Eric Wilson and Birdale were quite big for a short time in the 70s.They had quite a lot of work to Doha and Afghanistan as well as the rest of ME.Chinky Neville worked for him for a time. After Birdale finished Eric Wilson worked for De Rooy in Holland for a while.
There must be some old drivers on here as they were quite well known Mike

Thank you tetragaz, got it at last.

Mike, you’ve done it again in the ‘names I’d nearly forgotten’ department. Chinky Neville. What ever happened to him?

Hi David.Like a lot of us old’uns on here i remember odd bits and pieces from 30\40 yrs ago,but i’m buggered if i can remember what i done last week.Maybe it’s something in the brain that make us remember what we consider '‘good times’'to the exclusion of mediocrity in our lives.
I haven’t seen Chinky for 15yrs or more but i think he is still about somewhere in Essex\Suffolk.He comes on here infrequently.Other old Anglo Greekies should be able to tell us.Mike

You mean there was another David Miller Tetragaz? :open_mouth: I never drove an aerodyne (or even knew what that meant) 142. So any young ladies anywhere in the East looking for fathers for children that don’t seem to have one should apply to the other David Miller! Phew!

Jacko. Please wish hime the best from me too.

Gentlemen, does anyone recognize this machine, clue it is not in it’s normal livery.

Also it’s worth a very close look, it’s not what it appears to be.
Dave.
