Hi Dave
Merry Christmas to you and yours too.
Yes, very sad news about Hoops.!!
We are all fine thanks. I’ve just seasoned all the meat ready for the “big feast” tomorrow.
Check out my latest project, www.thesinkingworld.com we are deploying the artwork on the shipwreck of the SS. Stavronikita on the 28th Dec. The artist just arrived at the Inn for a week. Big cocktail reception for Dive shops and Tourism Ministers and other stakeholders. If youve got a spare 30 Grand or so you could get one of the pieces !!
Best regards
Dont eat too much Haggis.
Gavin
Hello Gavin, merry Christmas to you too Mate, throw us a Blue Marlin on the barbie. There seems to be a problem with that website link can you try and sort it out for us please as it seems to be denying access to all ex ■■■■ divers.
Meanwhile can anybody put any names to these three wise men from the East (or the North West to be more precise) or does anybody know where the photo was taken as I have forgotten.
Hi Mushy
Strange.
Did you try copying and pasting the link into your web browser ?
It works ok on my computer when I click on the link…
How was your Christmas dinner ? Mines in the oven cooking slowly.
Best regards
Gavin

Good God Malc, was it LOBO from BIrmingham, that’s another name that I had forgotton about. Was it something to do with Lloyds Overland or something and didn’t Depression Ron work for them at one time.
Regards Steve.
Lloyds Of Birmingham Overland
There is a photo kicking about somewhere of an F12 in LOBO colours
Steve and wheel nut, I posted a pic of Del Martin and his LOBO F12, it’s in my post of “70’s M/E pics”. Off to see Del this afternoon to chew the fat, he worked for them late 70’s early 80’s. It was the last fim he did M/E for til he packed up long-haul for a few years. I’ll point him on here.
Its saying on The John Mann fb page that Eric Howell of GEH has passed away, very sad another old haulier passed away. I’ll leave it up to one of You older Chaps to start a thread on it, I only met Him once when I took a friend to His yard to buy a lorry from Him He was a gentleman & the lorry was in tip top condition. RIP.

…Epilogue. A week later I ve got 6 snuggled down again. Just as i m about to leave home the letter box clicked and it s an envelope with a card from the girls a 10 pound note was clipped to the card. Nicky had borrowed a tenner to buy her charges a small gift,I had nt expected to see it again.I was nt married at the time and my wife to be Susan wrote to Nicky for the next year or so get that eh. Nicky if by some strange quirk of fate you read this Susan and I were married in 1985 and produced 2 children Harriet our daughter and Joe our son. Tragically Susan was taken from us 2 weeks short of our 25th. She lost a 4 and half year battle against yhe dreaded big C You ll be in your 50s now and possibly a grandma. Your maiden name was withrington, you have photos of Tony and me, we sadly have none of you and Kim. If someone in NZ knows you and you do get chance to read this I wish you all the best and I still think from time to time of that epic journey. Like most people from downunder you can t pronounce Geoff you called me Jiff. Regards and best wishes to all. Geoff the Crow TAYLOR.
Hi Geoff the Crow,
just in case Nicky did do a search on Google with her name it would help a lot if the forename and surname were together and where she was from: Nicky Withrington, New Zealand and Kim from Australia.
I used to be a trucker, just in Europe, but now work in computing and with search engines in particular. Don’t want to sound like a smart ■■■. Just thought it could possibly help.
A big thank you for your tales. I never made it to the Middle East, but I was in India at the beginning of this year for 3 months. I assume the standard of driving there is similar to what you all experienced in the Middle East.
Regards
Johnny

Hiya Brookie, if you show Dell this photo of the three wise monkeys (well two of them anyway) he might recognise the ex Falcongate driver on the right (the one not wearing a stripped shirt ) who drove for Falcongate from Birkenhead in the late 70’s/ early 80’s.
Maybe Dell recognises where the photo was taken.
I am surprised that M.and C. Jamie hasn’t come up with the blokes name yet.
Hiya bullitt, I thought that you would of recognised your wife’s uncle Stan Warmbold on the left of that photo and I thought that Dave Jamieson might of recognised Jim Smethurst on the right with myself in the middle.
As you asked about four years ago for a photo of Stan’s Foden then I am glad to say that Foden 46 has finally come up with one.
The trouble is that Geoff The Flying Foden also wanted a photo of Alan Morreys Foden and I am not sure who this one belonged to.
Hello again Steve. I must admit, when I first saw that photo I did think to myself, that looks abit like Stan!! Should have asked the wife as I never actually met the old fella. Thanks for the pic of the Foden.Would Stan have had it painted in DOW`s colour being an O/D?
Best wishes to you and yours for 2013, lets hope this thread keeps running as well as it has been.
