Politics now…This could get messy :open_mouth:

The US were supplying the Afghan insurgents with weaponry to help them fight the Red Army, now they’re paying the price :open_mouth:

The real curse blighting our World is not the Muslim people, those of you that heve visited Muslim countries will bear testament to that, they’re not a violent people at all, most of them couldn’t be arsed to get up early enough for a good tear up

The self proclaimed peace keepers are the ones stirring up trouble, first of all it was Communists, now it’s Muslims, now wonder a few of them have started kicking off about the persecution they face :open_mouth: The propaganda machine has turned it into a them and us situation :unamused: Look at Bradford, long a Muslim area, for years and years they were no trouble, sure it wasn’t a place that WASPs would want to live, but they kept themselves to themselves, since 2001 though it’s been a little tense up there to say the least. The thing is they never started it, they’re just reacting to provacation and hatred :open_mouth:

The average Muslim does not hate the Jew, nor the Christian, they have their beliefs and they live to them. There are extremists, but there’s more Christian extremists and fanatics than there are Muslims and there’s a lot more Muslims on this planet than there are Christians :open_mouth:

Those of us that ply our trade in the Bible Belt of Canada and North America see Christian Extremists and fanatics on a daily basis, they’re not all violent nutcases, but they base their whole lives on the Bible, same as the Muslims, it’s just a different book :open_mouth:

Blimey nmm that’s naivety in the extreme. The reason why they might not have been much trouble in Bradford etc was because they hadn’t got their act together. The Iranian revolution and the fact that Britain is no longer has any particular national identity was the turning point. So now they aren’t so worried about throwing their weight around because they know that they’ve got representatives in government and plenty of supporters amongst the British indigenous population who’ll let them get away with it instead of chucking them out back where they belong. But the way they treat their own says everything about what they’d do to us if/when they ever get the upper hand.

Geoffrey without ruining another good thread, maybe you should look closer to home, well closer to my home, the bloke who just killed 6 of his kids because he wanted a bigger council house, and he was an indigenous prick, both British parents arrested for the murder of their 3 year old kid and a “grandad” shagging his stepdaughter. Meanwhile back to Egypt

I fully agree with a lot of this, the two muslim countries I’ve tipped in the average locals where very hospitable & I take as I find.

We where stupid to mess around in Afghanistan & it will never end imho.

I hear Craig is having autos only Geoff, they’re not for the likes of Me & You thats for sure.

I can feel another lock down coming our way Chaps, it will be Bullys Bar ssoon enough

But the difference is the law wouldn’t have let them off when they caught them with the excuse that it’s all part of our culture like the latter of those two examples which I posted and it’s not often that anyone runs the risk here of being decapitated just for being an infidel like they probably would if they tried to drive a truck to Pakistan through Iran and Afghan or going to Saudi etc via Iraq now.But whatever I was just replying to Crow’s post by saying that none of that is the Americans’ fault and nmm’s concerning his political view of the situation and no one (rightly) said that their opinions,on that issue, are ruining any thread and neither is mine.

The important word in that is probably ‘were’ there’s no way that doing a lot of the similar runs as they were doing through the 1970’s at least up to the Iranian revolution wouldn’t involve a lot more risk today and since then.

Afghanistan was Russia’s Vietnam and the Americans haven’t learn’t anything from theirs. If a country is a strategic threat then deal with it strategically like LBJ was trying to do when the pc lot around the world stopped him.If not then leave it alone.

Autos seem to be like Marmite.I can’t stand the stuff. :smiling_imp:

Wrong again Carryfast :open_mouth:

Marmite is delicious

Time to lose the politics though, this thread is far too good to be derailed, so it’s time to behave chaps

Not British, but what a picture…

This.It could have been if there’s such a thing as a paralell universe. But would have been a TM 4400 with a howling Detroit pulling it though.

Saudi is about the only place a TM with a V8 Detroit would make sense, just hook it up to the TAPline and the job’s a good 'un

The front view of that Volvo shows it to be an F88, the British ones run by Oryx were F89s, you know those Cloggies, they think the world is flat, that’s why they made the Dutch Gardners or the 2800 Daf as it’s more commonly referred to

NMM,according to wikipedia there are nearly double the number of christians to muslims on the planet.but you’re right this theme is not for this thread, and I also like marmite.I think cf sometimes argues just for the sake of it.I,like almost everyone else never had any major problems with the locals or the customs,in fact I found most of the people were helpful when they could be, whilst driving to Iraq in the 70’s and early 80’s.Maybe you should have tried it cf.Incidentally, what is a wasp?

WASP is an acronym for White Anglo Saxon Protestant

I never did a wiki search, just used an email that I received for the numbers, it was one of those ‘The Christians are dying out because the Muslims have more kids than we do’ type of emails, the propaganda machine in full swing :unamused: Sounds to me a bit like the work from that little Austrian dude with the funny 'tache and his little gang :unamused:

I reckon that’s an 89 possibly with a Sorling rear axle!

On the other subject my belief is that all belief not backed up by povable fact is the most dangerous thing in the world!

Sorry I ever referred to this, as I said I never had any problems either in Syria Jordan or Iraq, the average bloke was indeed helpful and CF you could get beer in many places in Iraq and Jordan. I remember clearing customs in Amman with Yacker Yates and a couple of others buying bottled beer from a shop across the road from the customs throwing stones at the empties out of boredom 4 days to clear and then when we went back for more the shopkeeper chastising us because there was money back on the empties. We live and learn do nt we well some of us do cheers Crow.

Hello Bullitt, I did try to bump up your old thread “Pull Up A Sandbag” but when I checked all your old photos were missing  .
Now I don’t know if Tony or Geoff know it but Bullitts wifes uncle was Stanley Warmbold R.I.P.
Stan had a left ■■■■■■ Foden when I first met him which he wrote off after hitting a bridge in Czechoslovakia in the very bad winter of 82/83. He then bought a blue Volvo F12 with the name Osprey written on the side of the cab which he ran for many years. One of lifes great characters was old Stan, he first went abroad pulling for Paul Hauser and he lived just off Briscoe Lane in Newton Heath not too far from the abattoir, do you remember him Crow ?

Stan Warmbold and Ken Corrigan but I can’t remember at the moment if Jimmy Walker said that this was taken at Van Golu in eastern Turkey or at Varna in Bulgaia, maybe Ken knows  .

Regards Steve.

Course iremember him steve i first met him at Polykastro he was on his way back presumably from Izmir and had bent the front of the brand nrw RJ trailer by hitting the superstructure of the Cannakle ferry. He was quite worried about this but we got it cobbled up for peanuts I m wrong it was DOW not RJ. He never knew how much Dow owed him they just used to drip feed him. A nice bloke, did nt know of the connection between him and Bullit.Regards Crow.

I remember Stanley well,I ran with him a few times,he was good old guy,not so free with his money but a great character,he always seemed to be worrying about something or other.I didn’t know the connection to Bullit though.Do you know what happened to the Midnight Sensation Geoff?
