If you want more pictures for your renovation, try toprun.ch it has a ton of Friederici pictures on there and they were big Foden/Kenworth users

Right, now some M/E pics

The pictures are all from Keith the Thief

This one shows the exit for the Sinai Desert in Eygypt

Saudi Arabia isn’t all flat, these are the mountains near the Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina, non Muslims have to use a different road than Muslims

There’s plenty of trade between Egypt and Saudi, this Merc is loaded with Egyptian Onions, all handball too, must be fun in that heat.

This mob only do a 60km trip from Doha, yet they keep bending them, so we keep bringing new stuff to bend

Another big hill in Saudi

Looking at the sun, I worked out if I went on this tangent…In memory of JW

Captured at the border between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, look closely at the coils, the xray machine wasn’t fooled.

One of the fabled desert wrecks, not a Ferrari though.

Not the tourist part of Egypt.

1960s Maggie Deutz giving it some :sunglasses:

My entry for where was I  Come on Loose Wire, you must know :unamused:

111 graveyard near Port Said

These too had the right hump

The Actros that went down next to a brand new TG MAN written off in Qatar, replacement on its way down soon

Dutch 113 now working hard in Egypt

A sign few of the old timers will have seen :smiling_imp:

No ADR on this Egyptian fuel tanker

Delivering in Al Ain, 6kms from Oman border.

Bit warm today :open_mouth:

On the way up to deliver the lorry to Qatar, turned around and facing the wrong way so that this photo could be taken

What [zb]ing speed limiter

In the Red Sea port at the top of Saudi :sunglasses:

You can still see the trailer number plate on the front wing, anyone on here drive it  Nice bit of roping :sunglasses:

Loads more to come, but you can have these for now

I’ve always followed this thread avidly because, like so many others, it was my dream to do the Middle East but, like so many others, I never did… The stories are so interesting and very evocative but the photo’s bring it all to life…

Brilliant pics! Thanks Keith and NMM

Excellent pics Keith makes me wish that we had taken more, I never was much of a snapper but our Tony was and we do have some pics of OOG983G on its way to Izmir when our Paul decides to put em on. Glad you all made it back ok regards Crow.

Some nice pics Keith ,but after 30plus years dont expect drivers will know exactly where you are at a given point ,things change remember the Saudi motto, Saudi Arabia Land of progress,as they dropped the container with all the Saudi princes whisky ,my little kodak didnt take great pics ,and signs where a bit small then ,normaly painted on a plank of wood with an :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right: ,but still nice pics glad u got home safe, even if you do keep attacking me but i just       and       if only you knew

Hello Keith, I drove that Merc T414 back in 2008 when I was working for FOM ( Formula One Management) Bernie Ecclestones company. It was one of about 30 originally which was cut back to about 15 when he reduced the size of the tv village as it was known and kept the rest to pull stepframe flats with cargo pallets containing the equipment to broadcast the F1 coverage we see today, they were all fairly gutless, and the gearboxes used to find neutral on occasion when changing down on a hill but they were all in immaculate condition with mileage at the time around 160000 kms, not bad for a 9 year old truck. They’ve now been replaced this year by the latest spec Actros’s with all the goodies on them so give it another ten years and there’ll be some more bargains to snap up.
Chazzer.

Great pics by the way I’ll facebook the one of T414 so that the lads who are still on there can see where its ended up if thats all right…

Great pictures Keith and thanks to Newmercman for putting them on.

Hi Steve, I believe the sticker says “Peace and friendship with the Arabic Nation”…

Now, I am going to leave this open as to the origins of the sticker, I certainly don’t think it is the UK or the USA

mushroomman:
It’s great to see The Red Desert Fox posting on here again  now maybe he knows where this sticker is from as I haven’t a clue and can he tell us what all the squiggely writing says  .

Regards Steve.

Hi Alison,

It’s Graham Wainwright, an early driver started just after Gordon, still going strong.

Regards
Richard
