Hullo,
An old mate of mine, Bill Hyde from near Pocklington ran three or four of these when he was on for Whittles.
Cheers, Archie.

Hullo,
I donāt think so, although it could have been. I shall give him or one of his his Sons a call and find out. Bill was using them from about '76 till about '81 if my memory serves me right. You would certainly have to have been laid back to work for Bill though.
A real nice bloke.
Cheers, Archie.

The driver was Harry Woffenden that featured with Phil Llewellyn in the long distance diary they featured 2 Sed - Atki trucks both owned by Bill Robinson from Hull.
If my memory is correct he traded as J.A.W.S Trucking really great guy and very experienced M.E Driver himself
Regards

Hullo,
Yes you are right Bill Robinson was a good bloke, whatās he doing now ? It was him that got Bill Hyde to go onto Whittles, and Bill Hyde that introduced me to them. I never knew that he ( Bill Robinson ) had Sed Aks though. I remember an ex Archibalds Guy he had, an Orange Merc with a big Air Intake up the front, and the Turquoise Merc, J.A.W.S Trucking. I didānt think Harry drove for him, I thought he was on for CJE ( John Carter ) and I never buy any of those lorry mags. Thanks for that though youāve saved me a phone call

Cheers, Archie.

OHS & Whittle International ran them to the Middle East, but how did the Sed-Atkiās really stand up to it?

For those who seem to think this is a 401, it is actually a 400 series.

Hi Jamie,
Nice photo mate, thereās two Sed Aks there by the look of it, certainly the one in front has got a Hull Reg No.
I have just spoken to Eddie Hyde, one of Bill Hydeās Sons. The Sed Aks Bill had were as I said all white. They were all on V Registrations, 1978. From Bradley Trucks in Hull. If Bill Robertson had Sed Aks as well, then I suppose that these could have been his.
Cheers, Archie.

Do you have the full LDD that Phil Llewellyn wrote I would love to read it again I think it was in 2 parts
and I am sure it said that Bill Robby owned both trucks.
I can also tell you the Harry drove the sed atki in the picture I met him on many occasions en route
very down to earth Yorkshireman
Regards
The cabs on the trucks must have been very roomy for the time, quite a good truck to run with id have thought, (wheel Nut forgot to say I`m from (H) UDDERSFIELD
) would be good to read the story again
I was told that the OHS Sed Atkiās had been a cancelled Greek order that were begging for a good home. This i think was about the time that āsuhtieā had been stopped from buying any more Macks. They were fitted with the 350 or 400 ā ā ā ā ā ā ā engine. I cannot remember if they were used to go to the middle east , or if they were used for change overs in Munich or Istanbul. Regards Jamie.

Hullo Malc,
Good old Lister eh! I kept the old bugger in German Permits + the odd Yugo Tipping Permits. When I first met him he was Transport Manager at Pocklington Blocks. You mentioned Budgie. Which Budgie is it ? as I know a couple. Do you mean Howard ? As in Howard and Den ( Denise ), bought an old MAN from Lister and did quite a bit of work for him. Then started to get his own work. You may also know Listersā Sons, there was John who did a bit of M/E with us on Whittles, and had a few motors running down there after that (they werew his Dads of course). He has a Transport Business in Scunthorpe. then there was a younger lad Nick, he went into European Courier Work and has a good business in Hull.
Cheers, Archie
