Nice one Ross, “A man who is wrapped up in his own words, clearly makes a very small package”

All the very best RDF

I remember standing on the “stairs” in C&E Dover, late 70’s with a DOW Freight driver in front of me, TIR Carnet in one hand and a T2 in the other for his belly tank contents.

Hi All. If you fast forward to 2mins 24secs you will see the Bulgi truck that came to grief, I took that picture and if you look on my photobucket you will see it s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj55/johnmcvey/ just thought I’d share that with you

No I love Carlos Santana, would have just liked some engine noises.

This is just pictures and a soundtrack, but it shows some great shots.

Nice one and love the CMM on your top lip. Took six weeks Paris to Toulouse on the barge. Laissez les bon temps roulier

After Bolu dropping towards Ankara 1975

Turkey / Iran border 1975. The goats always got priority

AEC without driver between Marand and Tabriz Iran 1975

Being tonkered Tahir 1975. Hope you like

Even I was only a boy when I took these

Cracking photos Josh, that trailer/container behind the AEC is identical to the one pulled by the Crusader MUR501H - know anything about it please? And was the motor abandoned?

WTF are you, the copyright police?

Yesterday you accused Ashley of putting up a picture that wasn’t his, even though I said I had put it up and Astran Kevin had allowed it to be published on the internet.

I am not a wanabee, but a could have been. You used to post such interesting articles that were copyrighted material, many are still available on the internet. That was much more enjoyable to read then the drivel you have been writing lately. When did you become bitter and twisted?

I am interested in old vehicles. I am not old enough to have driven many of the trucks in bubblemans thread but I still appreciate them. I didn’t go past turkey but met some drivers who did, so I am interested in their stories. I have never ridden a speedway bike but it is still one of my favourite speed sports.

Here is another picture that I don’t own :stuck_out_tongue:

And if your previous post was intended to make me bite, it worked, that is why I have 23000 posts on here because you are supporting me financially. Thanks for that

well have a look for eurowheels.then you will see where most of trucker ashes pics come from :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: and bitter and twisted not me mate.you forget i stuck up for you on the vdb thred when some said you were an idiot.but not spouting drivel asked a question and get the normal crap of the m/e heroes of astran the only firm ever to do m/e.the picture thing just bugs me if you put other peoples pics up at least you should say they are theres.and im not saying you do.but certain people on here do.so hope this answers your question.and i will await the reply from the only people to do m/e

you beat me to the question jj72, was it abandoned? and i never linked it to the crusader (but you do know your stuff), someone must know the tale.

A Mandator in Turkey in 75 ? my dads used to break down between Bradford and Bury on a regular basis ,whoever was driving that shouldve been on big wages

In answer to your questions, the truck / trailer were not there when I was on my way to Tehran that trip, and I did pull over to see if anyone was about or needed a hand when I saw it on the way back.
No one about and all looked intact ie batteries etc still on.
I am fairly sure it was still there on the next trip out and back which was about 5 weeks later as I seem to remember stuff was missing.
But so long ago the pics are the only thing that is going to hold up in court!!!
Sorry can’t be of more help but it might ring bells with some other old gits.

H4 1976 I stopped for breakfast and up rolled the Jordanian fleet

H4 1976 First trip for that trailer

Eleskirt eastern Turkey 1975.

Between Bam and Zahedan Southern Iran, near the Iran / Afghan / Pakistan border 1975

would that be the pics ive seen with the massive side tanks on the turk units? and cheers r.d.f. guess thats what the tank farm was all about.

Yes they are the tanks in the pics posted earlier………… :open_mouth: The Turks became ridiculous, whilst most of the westerners had their belly tanks which probably varied between 1500 — 2000 litres, the Turks were pulling 5000+ litres out of Saudi and then selling the diesel in Turkey. At times they also had oil drums filled with diesel in the trailer and were heavier coming home (so called empty) than they were going down with their loads. :open_mouth:

From our side the belly tanks were not only good for coming back, we had them filled with red diesel in the UK and bonded under a “T Form” through to the German / Czech or Austrian / Yugoslavian border where the “T Form” was cleared and then it was all the way down on the good old claret.

Having said all of that, I remember Mick Chinock used to fill his belly tank with Petrol in Saudi and had a deal going in Greece. That was when we were using the ferry out of Tartous :unamused:

Our ole mate Sinbin, and others can probably expand on this subject more.

Turk belly tanks like these !! I took these photos at Ramtha, it was getting ridiculos, and we would struggle to get out of Syria with more tha 200ltrs.

I preferred it when we could come home via Iraq, running tanks brimming and a few full 45 gallon drums strapped down in the empty trailer. Some bananas and pillows at the deisel dip usually did the trick   didnt they RDF…

CMM? Me and her just come back from Italy, went via Mont cenis, hope you and K in the pink, must hook up again soon

How did they get those huge tanks out from under the trailer? My big belly tank on my EX Dow trailer was a round cylinder and it would roll from under the trailer,as it was fairly easily detached.
