That reminds me of the small prefilter in the rear of a DAF pump, like a peltit plate on a Ford gearbox, it doesnt need it!
And before you know of their existence it’s the last place you look for a fuel blockage, after sitting for 6hrs on the hard shoulder of the old two lane Medway Bridge, long after bonfires under the tanks, fitting new primary filters, towing the ■■■■■■■ in and putting a new stack pipe and fuel lines on, all for a poxy bit of gauze smaller than your little pinkie

A drinking colleague from the village has just spent a few days in Kandy. he is a seismologist and the Japan thing went off while he was in India. his return home was delayed somewhat as they couldn’t guarantee them a safe flight. In the end he told me they flew over Baghdad, the lesser of the evils. He was home before Syria started, but it had been planned for a couple of weeks apparently.

I have a few questions regarding the ‘call to prayer’:
Did the ‘Call to prayer’ create much of an inconvenience during loading, unloading or at the customs?
Did they just stop what they were doing?
How long did it last for? I’ve read 15-20 mins.

I was out in West Africa working and the Muslim workers carried on regardless and prayed when they could, except on a Friday, like we have a tea break, they would nip off with a prayer mat and point their arse in the air.

thanks for the info lads,
i`ll speak to kev at astrans when my passport comes back and ask him what the deal is
Good luck with your trip and dont forget your camera!!!..but out of interest, arent Astran a bit more selective as to who they sub there work out to??
Dont they require a subby to have some experience in that area or can any subbby get on for them??
Would be interested in any feed back from any subbies past and present (richmond!! ), maybe they can shed some light on how to get a load from Astran and start on the M/E stuff!!
Surely Astran require some sort of proven history of running down there before they would give up a load??

Really!!! So possibly / theoretically anyone with a half decent truck and a sense of adventure could get an Astran load and head off to Doha or where ever!!!
I had always imagined that Astran would be quite careful as to who they sub out to given their reputation and what the job actually entails etc!!
In the middle east special of commercial motor it said the operator is responsible for arangeing there tir permit which is costly and time consuming so you would have to be financially secure and serious about doing it before you start so I suppose this weeds out most of the time wasters before they start.
