well mr Rabbitt…many, many thanks for posting those pics. Its great to see some more modern day ones!!..dont suppose a mod or someone can make them viewable without sliding back and forth across the screen!!

Looks like the roads out there are as bad as imagined, guess they must just melt in the heat!!

I take it “iffytrans” was / is your company?

Look forward to hearing some of your tales and stories sometime if you get a chance!!..and some more pics of course!!

Are you still running your own trucks down there or did I read that you were doing “sellers” now?

More to the point…how does a driver get on the M/E run nowadays■■?
The only way would seem to be if you are an O/D or a friend of one!! Any advise you could give??

Cheers once again Rabbit, and merry xmas to all.

YO HO HO and all that “innit”!!

This may tidy up the screen a little.

Hi Whats that stuck on the windscreen-a bloody Sat-Nav■■?

When I was going to school in Lutterworth in Leicestershire in the late 70’s I used to see an Astrans artic parked on a driveway in front of a house on the left hand side just before you entered Lutterworth coming from the Leicester direction on the old A426.I have had a strange fascination with astrans since those days, as when I started driving trucks for H.W.Coates of Cosby and an old timer lent me the book Cola cowboys and I was unable to put it down until I had read it cover to cover(in about 15 hours).later on some 20 years, I was given a rather dog eared copy that was hard to read and keep together but still just as fascinating to read again,I have kept this one for prosperity and put it together with an old copy of Headlight magazine that featured a driver that they accompanied on his last overland trip.
I may only be waffeling as my beloved calls it but, somebody may be able to tie things together and find it usefull.
Regards to other users
Paul.

There may be a bloddy SAT-NAV in the window, but the black top is THE TAP LINE

Meery xmas all,

Bullitt.

Blimey, despite the state of the tarmac, that looks rather civilised with being a dual carriageway, and telegraph poles?.
This pic is from my gallery at Toprun but unfortunately I can’t show it full size. You will have to check the pictures on my link to see it full size.

Hi Bill, I`ll bet you never had Sat Nav when you went down the TAP with Whittles, did you?

JAWS:

Oh it may well be the Tapline, only thing is he was supposed to be going to Shepton Mallet :open_mouth: 'kin sat navs

Hi, just to see if I’ve got things sorted! These pics are of my first trip abroad in 1975 or 76 in a Scammell. The destination was Ryadh, I am sure that the pic showing the water tower is of Ryadh. The third pic shows my backload, (obviously we stripped it down somewhere) after Bomilows Foden rear hub oil seals went and lost all the oil from the back axle. I seem to remember getting new oil in Germany and reassembling it there to drive home.
