Hi does anybody know if the wing commander as he was known worked out of felixstowe on containers in the 80s> He was always singing and mucking about on the cb.
Yeah,he worked for P&O and drove a Scania LB80.
He used to wind people up something rotten on the cb,and on more than one occasion there’d be drivers looking for him to give him a good hiding,though I never heard if anyone actually did.
Even some of his own workmates on P&O wanted to wring his neck.
I have come across Dave chambalains name a couple of times on here and although i never did M/E i did meet him in the Albion one night and a good night it was too, does anyone know what he’s up to.
For those of you that missed it someone ask if anybody had heard of terry tott who was mentioned in cola cowboys. the reply was as above but i’m only going on memory from reading cola cowboys several years ago.
aidey it were me that asked about terry i worked with him a few years ago but it wasnt until recently that i was told of his shawaddwaddy and middle east days for astran he said he rolled one of there motors phoned in and said he broke a mirror so he was told to go buy a new one he then told the guy at the other end of the phone it wont make any differance cuz the trucks lying on the broken one

If I remember correctly the 6X4 F88 with Asian Transport on the headboard was a ORYX Transport from strood Kent, Run by a Saudi man just down the road from Astrans depot at Addington near Maidstone
yeah thats barry barns a real good laugh fiddle barns as bob paul used to call him. i think thats the truck he was runing down to sell when we met up in acona & ran down together .we went on the beer in patra & the next day coming off the rio ferry the police stoped him he had a two or three stowaways on board they had cut his cord to get in then glued it back together .the police tried to make a fuss about it but barry want having none of it & we were on our way in half an hour.

Yes GS and Roders it is indeed Barry “Fiddler” Barnes in my yard having bought that 113 in fact he bought most of my trucks and sold them in the Middle East!
