C’mon Robert, get sleuthing[you the man] .'Who is he,what [if any]Connection to Astran, where is the truck from originally, and so on.For us of more limited capacity.
You should know my modus operandi by now, hutpik! If I don’t know it, I sling it into the arena and the answers soon come flowing!! Robert

After a spot of sleuthing, I am assured by Truckash himself that it was restored by a Frenchman a little while back. Cheers, robert
It seems a bit unusual. It would be nice to know,‘why Astran’,what Connection,if any,he had with Astran and\or ME.Also was the truck an old French unit or a real ex Astran re-registered.

It won’t be an original because Truckerash informed me that Astran didn’t run any 4x2 Scanias in that livery. I think one or two subbies did though. I’m sure Ash will come on here and answer your questions in due course. Robert
Hi Maybe I can help as TDX400K was the first Astran truck to be painted in the white/brown colour scheme and the brown strip on the bottom grill is missing on this Scania. Bob Valis drove TDX400K when it was yellow/red with Napoleon written on the door and after he left I started driving it. Bob Paul and Caroline came down to West Malling to have a look at it when I bought it back from being sprayed and Caroline said to me that the white/brown colour scheme looked more like white and ■■■■. One great woman with a husband to match. Regards John Holland

So you didn’t believe me when i posted that it had been done by a Frenchman then ?
Don’t get out yer pram.I didn’t say that i didn’t believe u,i was rather curious as to why a Froggie done up a motor in Astrans livery.
The only Frenchman i knew on Astran was Bob Valance and thats not him i Think.Did the guy sub for Astran,or what.
The reason i ask is that there are many old quite famous French co’s who done ME who would be worthy of renovating a motor for and if the guy done ME surely he would have worked for one of those co’s.

Oops! Sorry NMM, I’ve just scrolled up and seen your post - I had completely missed it! Robert

Mike my post was aimed at Robert and was tongue in cheek anyway.
True!
But Mike, your comment about Bob Paul was spot on . I never met his missus but I did meet Bob and I was vastly impressed by his gentlemanly spirit. I would have enjoyed working for him. Cheers, Robert
Ok,sorry. But i’m still curious. What the story behind the restoration is for a Frenchman, especially as they are very nationalistic about everything French.I would have thought a restoration of a Stouff Saviem or Renault truck would be more in keeping with the ‘‘vive la France’’ Feeling.
What a great find, that looks like a Thor Transport Creteco tilt but I am not sure of the name on the tractor. It’s not Kapicule so who knows where the photo was taken.
Hi NMM.No,thats not mine, mine was all red[ex Feblands],maybe Swiss. As MMM says a good pic.The Mack,Thor, the two Leylands of MAT,[Dutch or ]maybe Italian with the two stripes on the bumper.the Hungarocamion 88next to them.Early to mid 70s.

That colour scheme on the tractor looks like Thor, and that location is too smart to be Kapic in the mid '70’s!
