Not 40 miles of bad road !!! 200 klicks of no roadBacksplice, where were your Saramat Volvos struggling with that road? Saudi? Yemen? Robert
Robert there were 3 of us and all we had on board was air conditioning ducts for a new medical clinic out in the desert roughly 200 klicks off the asphalt… it was easy and not as bad as it looks the 89;s were good M/E tractors I never had one bit of trouble with mine during my 12 months…Oh it was Saudi !!

More Turks. Robert32
Hiya Robert you have posted some good pics on here in the past and present which have brought back
many memory’s. I have tried to find a turkish company (Heavy Haulage) all white with stagecoach painted
on the side they helped me out when I broke down on route from Adana-Izmer Do you or anyone else remember
them? If I remember they were called Tuzgamalou or some thing like that.
GUESTY44,Good pics Guesty! I don’t know the company you refer to, but you’ll remember the salt lake between Ankara and Aksaray. Well that’s called Tuz Golu in Turkish and means ‘salt lake’. So it’s likely that your good Samaritans hailed from one those little towns along the lake. Cheers. Robert
Thanks Robert maybe someone will remember them"eh".
You could be spot on about the village,
GUESTY44
Could have been Tuzuoglu, a very large Turkish transport company at the time.

on the side.It was a large company.

Yes the stagecoach was their logo however I think they are not operating any more but I think we’re all agreed that Turkish drivers are the salt of the earth.

Don’t forget the big tanker outfit - Telekeli Madde!
Seems to me that most contributions to this thread lately are from drivers and subbies that have a tenuous link to Astrans and the ME trips that we all loved to hate, so come on you Astrans pioneers, keep your end up and keep the memoirs coming.
…Today I drove passed the Golden Cross pub in Colnbrook, near Heathrow Airport, a respectable place where , after a long trip when things have conspired against the driver/ subbie we sought refuge… waiting for the good lady to collect us and our kit for a brief respite from the trials and tribulations of a tough trip. This was the sanctury where the last trip was given the full autopsy, the mistakes analysed and the folly of another trip was agreed and rejected by all present. Then before the arrival of the long suffering, the next trip had been carefully planned and agreed…destination somewhere…
all the very best
