Hi Steve, hope you are well. Yes, I think you are right. Looks like it has done a few hard miles with quite a few more left in her.
Nick was quite a tinkerer, he was also vey handy at making big fuel tanks, I believe this was one of his on this F 16 GlobetrotterâŚ
Jeff
hey, Here making ready for the long trip, only 3 were done on our company '73-'75.
a pitty we couldnât affort it like the Britsh,French and other.
The comradeship wasnât that here in Belgium, and prices were not that because you mostly had to eat out third hands.
And as an owner driver, I have known a lot who came back without there lorry, completely ruined.
Cheers Eric,

Archie no Hardmans drove for us or hard men either ,drivers were me our Tony Dave Mason RIP Dave Ireland Brian Shepherd John Tilson RIP Pete Hollick Tony Boden . Mason and Ireland had previously worked for Aylsbury and Pegler and then later for Gem Transport who had a yard in Gorton Manchester they did a lot of work for Manchester Liners on containers. Ronnie Scott the owner was an Irishman and lived in Macclesfield. When times got hard the whole fleet went overland to Saudi and did internals .His newest truck was a Scania 111 all the rest Fodens including an S80 .Tilson and Boden for Eric Hunwick Shepherd for Transcontinental Freight at Heywood and Hollick finished up after us at Dow Freight. Keep on trucking mate regards Crow
Brian shepherd went on to work for Golden West Foods (Heywood) and finally hung up his boots at age 68 working for Top Freight Bury. For the last 6 yrs Brian has lived on the costa blanca near torrevieja.
Tony Taylor:
Hereâs one for you crow,me off the road at Tekirdag,a grader tried to pull me out of the ditch, but only succeeded in pulling off the front bumper.A Turkish army tank eventually got me out the next day,it cost me 25 quid. The truck behind is Roy Tatlock. We were on the way to Istanbul with a load of 2nd hand Massy Ferguson tractors.
Hi Tony. I know that truck, it was the ex trans con motor, easy to tell it as it was the only F89 in the Metro Freight fleet with a roof deflector its reg was UNF ***S. I know it well as a kid my dad was its pilot brian shepherd and I got to say I had some fantastic times all over europe in her. But she was orange then.

Hey Harry, you have repainted it
Pitty itâs sold sometime later as the company closed down. Sold to a Greek, who used
the logo further,as did some more as they bought one after the closed down.
Never seen the same logo reused by such a lot companies, even abroad .
Cheers Eric,

Hello All. I suspect the registration of that LB76 is SVB 300F and was sold to Fridged Freight about 1969. Pictures of it as a FF ridged with a drawbar trailer are in our family possesion but may be subject to copyright. I believe they belong to Chris Wyatt so I would hesitate to post them.
I drove that motor round Italy in the 70âs and loved it. It is in itâs environment there - in the snow. The old girl hated hot weather. We had to remove the front panel, exposing the radiator, to try to keep her cool in the Italian heat and rope it behind the cab. Top speed 65mph. Twin stick, noisy compared to a F88, but a dream to drive. I dropped a mate who ran a cafe near Livorno a thousand Lire to watch the trailer while I finished Brindisi and Naples, then would hook up again to collect fruit anywhere near Ferrara. A realy great lorry and brings back good memories seeing her again. Jim
Just posting this to juxtapose the pictures of it in both guises. Robert
Dan Iâm always looking for interesting stuff to build. have you got some photosâ â ?
