Hi wotever Andy Addison is alive and well and is an O/D in Canada ,we have been mates for years and he worked for me in the 70’s. He has been in Canada for many years only returning twice for family funerals , his daughter’s and then a few years later for his mother’s which was the last time that I saw him. However we still speak regularly so if you pm me with your name etc I will remember you to him and perhaps put you in touch with him. Regards
well talk about coincidence! we’ve been living in Canada since 2005!! if hes the andy who had the f86 which broke down in Tehran then did an internal run using boy-boys M.A.N its the same bloke. how do I pm u ? thanks laurie

It probably is the same man. In the left hand box click on to my Pseudonym i.e Laurie Dryver and with my details it will show - send private message. I know that He worked for the infamous John Banks for A while also for Promotor and Maurice Carmen maybe also for Cantrells for a time - ring any bells?
ok will do the pm for private stuff but on here we can do public domain , oh cantrells! that was the era oh yes! when andy was still in Tehran he started working for an English guy with a couple of nice scania 110’s. that guy struck us as being a real gent. I think andy was trying to raise funds to repair the 86.
pm sent laurie thanks

Morning Toby and welcome to the forum.
Indeed I remember Ray Toher (I never knew how he spelt his name) very well because I was driving the Scammell Crusader for John Ellingham and he and Ray were great mates. What a hero Ray was running that daycab Atkinson with the homemade wooden nesting box on the roof but despite the fact that he was running the longest trips, Afgan for example, for years and years you never heard him shooting the ■■■ - indeed he kept much to himself. Top man. Do you know if he is still with us?
And you are certainly bringing the names out now; John Banks (what a villain he was) and Scotts Ro-Ro. Ah! The old days, the old days!
Best regards, David
unfortunately I don’t know if any of those guys are still around. I have a cutout article from a newspaper with a photo of ray toher going in to court for his trial over the Cantrell/ st.margarets trust carry on.thats the last we saw but a few years ago I thought I saw a tilt with his name on with ,I think, an fl10 Volvo pulling it
