I got my copy of the book the other day and would like to add my congratulations for producing an excellent book.
Just one quick questions that, one of the newpaper cuttings about the early days f Asian Transport, mention sthem being from Great Ellingham, Norfolk. This is only a few miles from where I live and I wondered if this was just a postal address for the company or thier actual operation base in the early days.

Hi Muckles: Michael Woodman - founder and owner - lived at Great Ellingham and used his address as the registered office for Asian Transport for a few years to begin with. There was never an operating base there. In fact they never had a āproperā yard/base until they moved in the Addington premisis.

Ash.
Thanks for the extra info, I must admit after reading a bit more of the book there was something about Michael Woodman living in Attleborough, and running a dental practice in Norwich, so I thought it might be the case.

I bought three copies from Ash, one for Nick, one for Kev and one for me, all personally signed by him personally. Good value I think.

Hi mate: When I saw the book on WHSmith internet site, I was well pleased then I saw the price I asked my publisher how come they could do it so cheap and believe it or not, he was as surprised as me⦠Old Pond sell books to wholesalers at ābigā discounts, the wholesaler then sells them on to the big stores at a lower rate. Hence it is so cheap. Only trouble with WHS and Amazon, you canāt get a nice personally messaged and signed copy
kerbut:
Problem for me is I had todo it on line ,as there is no WHS near me !!
I donāt even think itās actually in the shops, so ordering online is the only way. Iāll check with Old Pond, but I got a feeling it wonāt ever be on the WHS shelves
Received my book Yesterday hence the delay in posting, Not been able to put it down sat in the sun reading it yesterday, Brilliant.
You have done a fantastic job with it and I am sure when where all dead and buried, future generations will be biding silly Money
on E Bay for it like they where for Cola Cowboys.
This is the most factual book with fantastic pictures on the subject and its Great to see faces I have met and heard of Without the tall stories !!
got ashās book on thursday, & i haveānt been able to put it down, its just fantastic with the stories & the drivers accounts of all the adventures they had, & the pictures help to tell the stories too. in my opinion its better than cola cowboys, but that is just my opinion & i dont want to offend anyone.
so congratulations ash on a excellent book. i would recomend you buy it, well worth the money.

donāt worry I have my full price copy from old pond, bought at gaydon and signed by the man himself - it was more a complaint about big firms like WHS screwing down smaller firms and maybe doing the author out of money too ;o) (smilies wonāt work today)

While at the Gaydon truck show this year, Gordon decided to have a sit in Carl Jarmanās restored Scania 141. Never one to miss an opportunity, he recreated the pose!

What lovley touch the photo is.
Just finished reading the book and it was worth every penny well done Ash.
I thought the mix of pictures and writing was spot on and to track down so many drivers after all these years must of been hard work.
One picture of two drivers in the cab of an old AEC realy got me thinking. You hear drivers today moaning about lack of space in cabs for four or five nights out and these guys were sharing this tiny cab for weeks on end.
