Aston Clinton Haulage

Yeah but can anyone tell me what Robins doing now, I’d love to get in touch again.

I can remember when i started driving coaches for Smiths Shearings,we used to fill up at Norbert’s Shell garage at Calais.I had a brand new E reg, whatever year that was.I can remember seeing ACH but wether they were Norbert then,or passing or fuelling,i cant remember.I can always remember going through Stone when i was a kid and seeing them, always looked clean and smart.
Its great that sites like this dont let great companys just fade away and dissappear.
Thankyou for all the pics.

A.C.H is the reason i wanted to drive sitting outside The Coach and Horses in Stone in my dads van on a saturday on the way home from the building sites.Me with my Hubba Bubba with straw and a packet of crisps Watching the trucks coming in and out a shunting. That was that job decided for future near looked back

Can anyone provide photos of the interior of an ACH F12 for modelling purposes? Cheers

Hi George Ginn has now seen the picture and it is definately him. It was o a trip to Kuwait via Saudi in appox 1981 in an 89. He still has the kettle and is about to dig it out.

Tipical eh ? Dinnah oot it George, it cost 1/6d, must be a few miles left in it yet. hae ye still got the Tea bags?

If George is reading these posts, please tell him I spoke to Andy Crisp last week, he is back working in the UK after breeding lots of German kids

Yeah that’s the same Dave Fowler (son of Les) who was running ACH up to the Norbert Dentressangle buy-out !
Interestingly the Fowlers retained ownership of the premises/yard/warehouse complex & when N.D. relocated to Leighton Buzzard (along with AJG) Dave Fowler re-invented himself as Aylesbury Cargo Handling !
I’ve not spoken/phoned Dave for approx a year but I believe he’s doing well & I wish him all the best !!

I reckon he must have started that up after EDS finished at leighton where a few of us worked when he left ND Aylesbury about 1999,he linked up with Eric Edwards and ran about 6 trucks for a while, think they both realised european haulage was not what it was and soon shut shop.

That’s about right Kevin – six trucks though ? I can only think of 5 drivers on EDS !!
If you are the Kevin I’m thinking of “how is Geoff as I heard he wasn’t so well” !!

So nobody knows what Kevin Sculley is up to these days? I knew him when we both worked for Swallow Int. I did bump into him a few times afterwards…I think the last time I saw him was on the docks at Poole. I was driving for Ridgeway International, Wallingford (explosives transportation) then. Could be talking 18-20 years ago??

Hello newmercman
Nice remark.XJO drives just like it was new. Its a mate of mine who owns her the first time i drove her i was blown away.I drove one of the first 290s GEE505N from Hebbs nr Alferton and after all these years XJO seems just as good. At the time my truck was a S39 Foden with a 180 Gardner. And it stayed Foden. I only collected the Volvo after the first service. I have a photo of a 7year old Volvo that i drove it had a hard life from the same firm.
