Associated Lead Newcastle

night shift bri:
When I worked at Van Hee’s in the mid 80s we used to load out of Elswick Works. They had a big pile of plastic car bumpers at the far end of the works which they turned into pellets. We used to lead them down to Vauxhall’s at Dunstable. IIRC the weighbridgeman at Elswick was a right awkward little ba**ard.

Hi “night shift”, Your right he was right little B, He was IIRC Called Mack, He worked in the factory years before that, He injured his leg IIRC, And was given the weighbridge job, I don’t think he had many friends , He messed me about every time I went in to load I remember one of his moves was to pick the phone up as soon as I pulled on to tare off, & The same when I returned loaded, Regards Larry.

Ha ha, I was going to say I thought he had a bit of a limp but hasn’t every bloke that works in the Weighbridge, fortunately my Father seemed to get on ok with him but he still used to curse him under his breath when he got back into the wagon, all part of life’s rich pattern eh Larry! Franky.
