Hi all
I am thinking of changing jobs and the jobs I am looking at require that I go along for an assessment. Could anyone please let me know from experience of what an assessment day consists of and approx how long it takes? All info appreciated.
Regards
Depends on company but usually it involves
A multiple choice on highway code
A multiple choice on driving hours
Some paperwork to sign regarding company policys etc
You will need to show how to hook up/Un hook a trailer (If class 1)
A reverse test onto a bay (not sure if they do this for class 2 though)
A driving assessment on the road
Thats from my experience of different companies though. I reckon it will take a few hours anyway. I went for an assessment 3 weeks ago that took 8 hours. Went for one last week that was over in 4 hours. Just depends on particular company
Driver assessments can vary a lot from firm to firm.
A typical assessment would involve probably about 30 to 40 minutes completing a questionnaire on things like drivers hours the highway code and that sort of stuff, then a typical drive would be 30 to 40 minutes driving, if it’s class 1 you can expect to do a couple/uncouple and perhaps asked to reverse either onto a loading bay or into a parking bay, a daily walk-around check is often included so the assessor can see that you know what to look for.
That would be typical of the assessments I’ve done but like I said they can vary a lot from company to company.

Whats is trip money?
assuming your not kidding, then its a set rate for the trip your going to do. if your not wanting to run bent,or arnt exactly familier with the ins and outs of getting away with running bent, then either jump in at the deep end,or avoid as the other dude says. everyone elses ballsups, delays etc become your problem with you bearing the brunt of all hiccups. he quicker you do the trip, the quicker your ready for the next one.itl only pay if you like running bent.theres happy mediums where you can do 3 trips 1 week, and 2 trips on week 2 with most companies, but mostly if your on trip money then your expected to run flat out, excellent wages can be earned if it suits you.it can be a Ireland -uk- Ireland trip or Ireland spain etc…all good fun if it suits you.otherwise youl be a busy poor man…
