Assessment questionnaire

The other day I had to do a questionnaire for part of an assessment. There were two questions that I got wrong according to the person marking the questionnaire but on googling I was right. One of them was a sign that I have never seen and may well not. The other question was on how much should you increase your stopping distance in icy conditions. I put 10 times the answer they wanted was double the distance.

Its not really an issue as I passed the written part anyway. Question is if I had failed should I argue the point. second question is if they expect me to drive like that am I setting myself up on a hiding to nothing.

you have no question to answer as you passed the written part hence no point to make, plus your meant to drive regarding road conditions based on the fact that you are driver.
alternatively, you could stop and call your office every time the sun comes out,if it rains,or is its chillywilly.
just do exactly as they tell you and itl never be you to blame as your only a steering wheel attendant paid from the neck down doing what your told to the letter.

In this situation I would just nod and say nothing. They don’t want too many 100% results, hence the curveball / arguable questions or ones where more than one answer could be right. Marking correct answers as wrong is a bit extreme though.

Since you passed. Just smile and agree.

If you had not passed due to them marking correct answers wrong, ofcourse you argue as you can prove you are correct - Especially if it meant you not getting the job.

It might make you feel better, but it would mark your card if you re-applied at a later date.

■■? What’s one of these.

If they are coming up with ways so you fail and don’t get the job. It doesn’t matter if there is a card marked or not, as you’re not getting the job.

What would make you think reapplying later on would give a different outcome - Imo it would be a waste of time reapplying and instead time to move on to something else that don’t play games.

My agency have given up trying to send me for assessments- which are invariably unpaid.

My standard answer was “I’ve already been assessed. I was assessed by the Government in 1986 and I was passed to drive trucks” and when they tried to push me to do one for Hermes- which would have taken half a day, again unpaid despite Hermes being privately owned by a multi-billionaire- I said “Look, there are plenty of places I get sent to where they say ‘Here are the keys, here’s the paperwork, there’s your trailer, off you go’ so just send me to one of those instead”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Absoutely spot on.
When I went for the job I’m in now 10 years ago, I pulled in their yard for the interview in a left ■■■■■■ with a kooiap/Moffett on the back.
I showed them my (clean) licence, 2 bloody good references, and passed the interview.
He looked out of the window at the outfit I was driving, and said ‘No need for a driving assessment then’'.

Real life example:
A mate of mine (yes, honestly) applied for a job. Knocked back with a load of woffle.
He didnt argue about the silly "reasons" given. Tother week he had a call, and then a job offer.
If he had made a fuss, would that offer have been made?

Some may think this a “bunch of tossers” company because they didnt snap him up at the first chance? Maybe so. But he thinks the job itself is a good un. He has the chance to find out now.

A transport company shouldnt be judged by their HR departments aptitude, any more than a truck driver should be judged by his/her ability to “interview well”.
