Assesment drive

Today I woke up and thought, After receiving my cat c provisional I’ll book an assesment, so rang peter smythe training centre up and they got me in the same day, really happy with the service and there trucks drive spot on, which was my main concern as I ain’t keen on iveco’s from previous experience with there vans, but I like the iveco’s trucks, clear guided instructions, dead easy to talk to and I walked away with confidence and a big smile on my face ear to ear  highly reccomended!

Hoping to do an assesment drive Feb time with PSTT  Did you drive an auto or manual? How long did you drive for?

Dan

I like those Ivecco’s, dead easy to drive. One turn on that wheel and you can put it into the parking bay on the test. The one I used for my training at PSTT had less than 2000 KM’s on it.

Its about an hour or so then you’ll back to the office where the instructor will make an assessment of how much training you need. My instructor Chris said I only needed 8 hours before the test as I already had done 3 days of training and a test prior to going to PSTT.

I did a manual, just to try the manual, think I’m going to do test and that in a auto, I have got a good understanding of the gears, just easier for the test as I don’t have spare funds as a back up, I need a first time pass ideally, so to give more concentration on everything else I’ll let the truck do my gears, was out for about an hour with a chap called Chris and he was brilliant! Didn’t push, was very patient, and even when I fudged up, just calmly let me correct it as I already said to him what I have done and need to do, but really happy with it only one fudge up and that was not getting back down to low range been to quick trying to be more competent

Thanks for that  Think your right about doing test in auto. I will really need to pass first time due to finances so If gears are one less thing to worry about thats a good thing. Good luck when you do your test.

Dan

Thanks for the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed the experience.

I’ve already done my test. PSTT and his clan helped me pass!

So I have mine soon too at PSTT. I am Going out in a manual truck, whatever is it gonna be makes no difference as I am absolutely green and it will a tough challenge regardless. around 220miles round trip to Mansfield and some time in an unfamiliar vehicle, 3 times the size of my car. Nevertheless I am all positive about it. Hopefully I could start my course in January.
