Asda & digi cards

At Asda Skelmersdale the drivers have been told that when they finish a shift early-- say card out at 06.00 & driver clocks off at 06.15, the 15 min between the card out & clock off should be poa or other work, this means that the driver going off will not be able to show on the digi card the he has started daily rest or weekly rest. It just shows as a blank gap on the FTA download display, that means that all the Asda drivers at Skelmersdale have no record on their digi cards for daily or weekly rest, just large gaps where daily & weekly rest should be. If a driver got stopped by VOSA would VOSA be happy with that ?.

And no they can not put it straight onto rest as Asda could the acuse them of stealing the 15min of time from the company.
When i am working for the agency, when i take my card out i put it on rest before removing it, & when it goes back in it shows that i have had daily or weekly rest. Am i wrong or is the Asda way ok ■■.

The asda way is ok except for the poa bit …
Handing in paperwork and getting debriefed, handing in truck keys etc can’t be counted as poa it’s other work …
I have done it like this for nion 18 months .
The Time work finished will be 6:15 then the gap in between the card going back into a head will be the daily/weekly rest .

When you next insert your card into a digi unit after an Asda shift simply make a manual entry accounting for the time between removing your card and the time you started your rest period. This also confirms your shift end time. You can also account for the time between shift start and getting access to a vehicle which also confirms teh next shift start and between these two things they confirm your rest period. Pretty standard procedure and it is very few cases when you remove the card and go straight onto rest, on a night out maybe but unlikely when you have returned to a depot as there is usually some kind of debrief, handing in of keys or clocking out procedure which would all come under the realm of Other Work. Putting it onto rest before removing the card wouldn’t be strictly correct in most cases.

It amazes me how all these different companies and drivers (not you hal56 , you have asked a good question to keep you on the right track) Interpret the digital tacho in so many ways and make it difficult for themselves or making entries that aren’t right …Not that mistakes can’t be made , I started a shift and 10 hours later and being a bit to quick with the keys I finished my shift in yugoslavia  Easy to rectify the mistake …

Some people and some companies do make it difficult for themselves .
To me it’s the most basic and easiest system to use , having to fill a chart out out and remembering to carry the right amount would be a right chore now

Carving the job up a bit there mate, slow down. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Pulled the fuse

we had that at the coop halesowen… when we parked the truck at yard up the road and pulled our tacho a min bus would run up and collect you take you back to depot…this would happen in morning to …what we had to do was put manaul entries on so we would add our start time has 15 min earlier from when we put card in, and same at end, saying you pulled card out at 1800 you would go into manual entry menu and add 15 min on put it as other duties
