Art work for trucks,so corny

Just pondering the laughable art work to be found on some trucks lately.Always seems to be proposterous yank meathead type of movie bilge,Rocky, expendables, wolverine type crud, why no celebration art work of British world changing rock power ffs?..Bowies Alladin Sane portrait,Jagger and Richards,Page and Plant,Townshend (doing that awesome leap thing he specialised in} to say nothing of the greatest of em all,Abbey Road shot especially?
If i had my own kit i would favour this above the stale machismotary on display all too regularly.I remember seeing an awesome one years ago dedicated to the peerless Deep Purple band in …er…radiant purple, wonderous sight to behold.Hope its still around.

If I owned a truck again it would be left as I bought it, last one was British Telecom yellow, it’s a tool to do a job and nowt else. I don’t paint me spanners or sockets ! :unamused:

If I had a truck, and the money to paint summat on it, it wouldn’t be any of the ■■■■ you mentioned.

It would be something I liked, celebrated, and enjoyed.

yeah but a bacon sarnie and a pint dont look the same as a bird with big ballballs :grimacing:

What’s with the “ice maiden” and viking nonsense?

Really? I’d forego poncing up the office in favour of spending the hundreds or thousands on me and the family.

Some of the airbrushing looks really well though. I thought I saw that pink one the other day out on the road which has all the Disney characters on it. I think it was done in memory of one of the owners family.

Is it me or do the Joe Sharp trucks have the Frozen film logo over the top of the cab doors?

Don’t know why any of them bother they just look cheap and tacky,it is only a work tool after all.

I do like these paint jobs and although im a bit shy and would prefer to go around incognito (like most of my web browsing) given the right truck and some spare cash I would have her airbrushed up with a celebration of the ■■■■ industry, all in good taste of course.

Always nice to see an airbrush job done well, unfortunately due to jealousy I would be worried about vandals scratching it. Perhaps a nice wrap is better but dont know much about it.

Sorry to disappoint darling, but I much prefer a double gin and tonic and a plate scrambled eggs

Don’t know how that would look on the side of a truck though

Some do look really good and a lot of work has gone into them, on the other hand, some look complete naff and are monuments to bad taste.imo.
Each to his own but the narrow profit margin in being an owner/driver for instance would not justify that amount of over expense…yeh I know I sound ■■■■ boring

I may be being unfair here but most of the guys I have come across that have these motors are the… insecure tank polishing ‘Look at me I’m a bigballs trucker me’ :unamused: type (the type that I avoid like herpes) but I’m sure they cant all be like that.

One of the ones I liked, but I’m biased, was the blue MAN XXL ‘Torque of The Toon’ with the picture of Alan Shearer on it.

Not including the driver in what I said btw…never met him.

Saw one commemorating a wedding, or a wedding anniversary. One I like they have “You want it delivered when?” and a couple of cartoon guys falling down laughing, on the back of the truck. Local company so maybe I’m sightly biased. And it’s by the pub

Some of them with dragons and stuff, well it’s their lookout. It’s like tattoos I think. Not my thing either.

I like trucks with airbrushed art work on them. I appreciate the effort that’s been put into the job.
But if I was to have my own truck, I don’t think I would bother with airbrushing. I’d rather have a nice colour that looks good when it’s all polished up. I’ve always like Stuart Nicol’s trucks for this reason. Simple looking but always look good when you see them.

Saw one with Jonny Cash all over it the other day, looked a total crock of ■■■■, but the ones I hate most are the trucks with lights all over them looking like crap Christmas trees,
Mostly Scanias, driven by dicks.

I find its usually the fellas who drive a plain supermarket spec truck that say blinged up trucks look ■■■■■

Jesus, balanced and witty rhetortary from that man there.

Not really a bling type tbh but the idea of driving something with cliched, violence eulogising naffery exemplified by anythin Stallone related would irk me somewhat if i had to drive it to put it mildly. The questions a cultural one really, love to see more Brit heritage stuff, maybe Albert Tatlock,Withnail,Blackadder,Beatles, etc, etc…Rick Astley anyone?

Just wondering if Mr Nichol is as famous for paying his drivers well as he is for his prominent trucks. :bulb:

(I do not know the guy or anything about him or his co. btw.so I am not casting any aspertions here :bulb: .)

I just wondered, as there are a lot of drivers (or idiots as I prefer to call them ) that are willing to forfeit a decent wage to be seen in a fancy motor, and if this was the case in their situation
. It more than likely is not the case,…Just curious.

The mad Max Daf and the James Bond strato looked really good although I prefer to keep my cabs plain .

I remember the DAF with the Princess Diana themed cab sbout 10/15 years ago, that looked good, in good taste, and less macho/aggressive than all the others I have seen.
