We arn’t the most expensive in Europe any longer.
European fuel prices are getting dearer, But at the same time they are becoming closer together.
Just a shame wages arn’t. If they did, Then people wouldn’t have to move from one country to another simply to food on the table.
i`m certainly thinking about getting a more economical car.
Travelling back from the Alps yesterday I filled up twice.
-
Chambery Nord, Carrefoure. 1.349 euros per litre
-
Le Clerk, Reims Sud. 1.339 euros per litre.
Out on the motorways it was signed as 1.55 per litre and the queues were horrendous.

Fuel is increasing because the £ is weakening against the $ (crude is bought in $s).
You’ll have noticed ccc how the posting of fact has just slipped by those who would prefer to believe anything but.

I wonder when all this oil that’s supposed to be around the Falklands is going to be extracted?? Surely as more oil floods the market, it’s value drops? Apparently there is an awful lot down there…

one advantage of living within spitting distance of the border in Ireland
Reminds me of when i used to live in Singapore …when you take your car across the border into Malaysia …you had to make sure your fule tank was 3/4 full or you would get a Fine…because the fuel in Malaysia was so cheap and Singapore was so expensive.!!!
As you approached the border you came to this sign and you are checked all the time…

Wonder how many cars have a hidden switch enabling a direct to earth when needed on the fuel sender…kerchbloodyching.
AS for fuel, always bear in mind that around 80p is tax, thats tax that you’ve already paid PAYE tax on before you took it home.
Surprised more people don’t go LPG, at least till the govt increase the daylight robbery on that to.
As said above, we have the govt we voted for, look in the mirror for who to blame.
A fireman friend of mine who lives in Coventry whilst working in Liverpool has put red diesel in his cars for 10 years. Very rare you ever hear of cars being stopped for a diesel check anyway. He says it’s cheaper to take a chance and maybe get caught than it is to fill up with diesel at the pumps. Let’s face it, with a car what would he get fined ?

I don’t know what he would be fined, but if he was stopped he may just ask
you to pay the fine 'cos you broadcast what he is doing

so if you get away with 4x tanks full to begins with. I reckon your nearly in pocket. For someone who does very high mileage then it’s gotta be worth the risk?

just depends on the value of the car. I wouldn’t chance it in a newish car.
They do change the rules from time to time. If you got caught some years back you just paid the duty, or lost your car/truck. So you always kept a few hundred quid about you. They would then issue you with a receipt, and you’d fill her up again, (it’s the same diesel, not done many miles ossifer )
My mate got caught, just 10 minutes after filling up. He paid £200 duty, but explained to the customs man that he still had a 45 gallon drum at the back of his house minus what was in his tank. The customs man said “use it, just keep your receipt”.
So he bought another 45 gallons to even things up.
