Hello all,
Does anybody know if taking part in weekends away with TA affects your WTD?
Not too sure about that. But you’ll have the gun so who’s gonna complain?
If you are paid yes

Thank you, wasn’t sure if there was an exemption on it.

Time spent on voluntary activities (e.g. driving a vehicle in a carnival/gala days) does not count towards the working time limits. In addition, time spent performing activities for the emergency services or Armed Forces (such as being a retained fire fighter, special constable, and duties performed whilst being a member of the reserve forces (Territorial Army etc)) should not count towards the limits under the Regulations.

That means you can be paid and be exempt
Ok, I gave a jokey answer earlier. Here is what I really think…
I think a lot of people believe VOSA to have some kind of mystical powers and are some kind of malignant omnipotent all seeing all hearing beings capable of sniffing out any minor infringement of the rules. Well here’s the news… They aren’t! They are like every other Government department that are starved of money and resources, they certainly aren’t going to waste valuable manpower and resources chasing an off duty truck driver with a penchant for flowery patterned clothing and crawling around in bushes on his time off.
There are real criminals flouting every traffic/ working regulation in the book that VOSA are (quite rightly) attempting to bring to book.
I mean absolutely no disrespect whatsoever to the op here, but you really wouldn’t even be a blip on their radar imo. There is another side to this of course, every “manager” in every public agency now needs to be PR savvy, even if they did find out about your TA time, do you think they’d risk the kind of media ■■■■■■■■■ they’d receive from The Sun etc if the case ever came to court?
Hi all.I may be out of order here but isn’t it getting a bit OTT with all this political correctness about what we can or cannot do in what is almost all parts of our lives.Does this mean we will soon be having tachos on main battle tanks

As the defence budget is being cut left right and centre we soon wont have any of our own. Heard in the canteen the other day that rented French ones driven on Hungarian or Polish plates will soon be the norm

interesting choice of words there
I thought that myself. ,‘should not’,
That means., ‘it might though’,
When I was a reservist and got stopped by the , then ministry I told them I had been driving all weekend. Not bothered about that was the reply. So you are ok.

That’s fair enough Greggy, but at that time the Ministry weren’t self funding.

Although your being very tongue in cheek, we have actually had to ‘hire’ jets from other countries to use on our aircraft carriers in exercise, god knows what were gonna do when our new fleet of aircraft carrier turns up because theres nowt left in the put to put our own planes on it.
