Arla Foods, Leeds

Hi

Just a quick one out there to anyone looking to switch agencies, the agency that i work for are looking for drivers on a on going basis at arla foods at stourton on both days and nights

Having worked at Arla for 2 years i can safely say that the work does not drop after xmas albielt there is a big increase in work from mid Nov to mid Jan
I suppose everyone needs diary products and therefore it isnt seasonal

They have both RDC Trunking work and Supermarket deliveries

I guess you are wondering why I am doing this and the reason is that should I introduce a new driver I get £200.00 and the new driver gets £200.00 but they have to do 20 shifts before they get the £200.00.

Rates are £9.50 Days and £11.00 nights Overtime after 8
Sundays £18.00

If you are interested PM me

cheers

Peter

Peter

I will PM you shortly just waiting to here from another agy.

I thought Bridge contracts had the lions share of the ARLA contract ?

What they like to work for traffic bods …attitude towards agy drivers…facilities…etc

Im suprised that the powers that be on trucknet are letting you tout LOL

Anyone considering Arla store deliveries might want to read this blog with a description of what is involved before deciding if it is the type of work they want. I’ve seen the Arla boys struggling with the empty cages when I used to do Asda deliveries, no thank you it’s way too much faffing around and hard work for my liking.

That’s a new site, the old one is still here but you have to register to read it. Hopefully with me twittering on at him this one will stay unlocked.

can only concour with “snooze control”. i worked for arla for 6 months and had a set run in a rigid that was 13 drops around cannock and walsall (out of ashby) most of them kwik save, somerfileds and aldis.

aldis were the worse because all the loading bays are on a down hill slope and if you havent planned it properly or it was loaded by a mutant in the fridge then when you pull the bar out that secures the cages in motion , you get chased off the back of the truck by 30 cages full of milk.

emptys fold away and slot into each other but when you got hundreds of the buggers to contend with it aint much fun. watch your fingers cause it hurts like a ■■■■■■■ when you trap them.

couldnt take anymore of that crap and overtime was normal pay :unamused:

not a big fan of arla

Bridge havent had the supermarket deliveries since June and i am told are not the flavour of the month on the RDC side and are been looked to be replaced

cheers

Bridge were moved in order to make way for other agencies, after they would promise to allocate a driver, and for one reason or another, that driver wouldn’t turn up,or Bridge couldn’t get anyone in at all, thereby breaking the terms of their agreement with Arla.

I am currently working in Arla, and have done both sides, and I have to say, that given the choice,I wouldn’t go back to the milk side,as it’s too much like hard work, and I can concur with the Aldi scenario, and also that the Arla drivers get ratchet straps to hold their empties to the side wall of vehicles, whereas agency drivers don’t,and have to bar them in with the full cages, meaning everytime you do a drop, you have to take the empties out,and then put them back. (Or this used to happen last year when I was last there.)

In fact, there’s a current TN member that works in the NDC as a shunter, but I won’t say who it is,and wait and see if he reveals himself to us.

I have to say, that the NDC side is better, and I have absolutely no problem with the office staff at all.In fact,I used to work with one of them at Somerfields at Sherburn.

 :sunglasses:

I’ve done collections from there and although H&S is a bit OTT, I’ve never had any problems with the office staff, Nick is as good as gold, although Anne can sometimes ‘lose the plot’.

Your not kidding!!! And it keeps getting worse!

Now when you come for a collection you have to

  1. hand in your keys
    2)put on your trailer brake
    3)choc your wheels
    4)Wait in the canteen
5)sign to say you understand all the above!

Even when i put a trailer on the bay i have to Go in the office and sign the same form :unamused:

Nick is now in the warehouse and i have no idea who Anne is??

You will have to make yourself known if you collect from here again.

Now when i wrote this i thought what a load of tosh all this h+s overkill. However i was covering in the office yesterday and we had a “agency”(Yes i know it could have been anyone :sunglasses: ) Driver who was fully aware of site policy etc. Pull the wrobg trailer off the wrong bay on a red light with the dock leveller on the back then go round close his doors and set off!!!

Luckily the loader had gone to get another pallet!!

Result-a lot of You know what hitting the fan!

Yes he was given the right number and bay number just pulled the wrong one off!!!

Sort of explains why all these overkill policies get brought in!!!

Bones:

But it doesn’t explain why, when bay lights are on the right hand side of the trailer, the wheel chocks are chained to the left hand guide rails. Mistakes are easy to make, but with the current set up, there is no necessity to walk down the off side of the trailer, whereas, if the chocks were chained to the other guide rail, then a driver would have to walk towards the lights and would have less chance of missing them.

“Anne”. Perhaps I’ve got the name wrong. 5’2" ish, forties, dark hair. Pleasant enough but, how can I put it, :bulb: multitasking is not one of her strengths.

Could be “jane”

No comment.
