I met one on my way back from Spain driving an artic for Stage Truck and she seemed all right to me. It was nice to have someone other than a bloke to talk to for a change.

i worked with two 30 years ago yes thirty its nothing new they were both good at the job , one used to knit on her dinner time i wonder if you could do that now. no dont think so kniting needles could have your eye out while driveing

There was a lady driver who worked for Chivers years ago, cant remember her name, I was having a meal with her one night in italy years ago & she was telling me that the biggest problem in the job was all the tossers who thought they were going to get laid & the others that treated her like an agony aunt, I did neither as I had my bird with me at the time & she would’ve got the right hump about that, mind you at least then she would have a reason to be a stroppy cow Anyway does anyone remember her name? The Chivers driver, not my stroppy bird of course!

It happened again today, Marie made me smile (i really should get out more) we passed in opposite directions, greetings exchanged. And sure enough the moment made me smile. So sadly i decided to text her and inform of how she had brightened my day. The text read, Thats made me smile.
After a lengthy pause, this was the reply.

I have no problem with Lady truck drivers, we have a few in our place on agency. credit where its due, they are a LOT better than some of the blokes we get in. I agree though it is very cringeworthy watching some of the blokes attitudes change as soon as they see a woman driver, as they hold the mistaken belief that they are “in with a chance”.
Oh allright, I admit I tried it on once, but then she was a seriously smart polish lass who really was my cup of tea. no, I had the same mistaken belief as well.

We have a young lady working for us, even though she’s shifted from containers to general haulage. She can put a trailer anywhere you want it without batting an eyelid. Though she seems to leave the yard shuntting up to me for some reason…
I’ve met a few lady LGV drivers and as far as I’m concerned they’re just one of the lads doing the job they are paid to do.
