Not scared of it, but me and hard work don’t exactly get on, so we tend to avoid one another!

Then why is it dirty
what’s the hourly rate? time and a half after 8hours? time and a half saturdays? double time sundays?
PM Him and ask.
Hard work means different things to different people.
Getting exceptionally dirty, (eg. sewage, crude oil cleanups)
handling something dangerous or unpleasant (eg. month-old dead bodies)
heavy lifting
handballing any fair distance
doing loads of paperwork
having to learn a bunch of stuff outside a normal driver’s remit (eg. running admin, extensive computer use, actually having to learn how to type)
Driving plant
Nights out
Multidropping
roping & sheeting
deep cleaning vehicle & trailer
Going somewhere exceptionally dangerous politically (Eg. Mogadishu)
Driving on exceptionally dangerous roads physically (eg. El Camino de la Muerte )
Now, I would guesss that all of us are doing one or more of the above in our regular duties, and think nothing of it. Even having to do a whole bunch of the above might still sit OK with most, because it makes the wheels of the clock go around as much as the wagon being driven!
However, I’m thinking that anyone out there who’s done ALL of the above is no longer a driver, but an engineer and should be renumerated as such.
What say youz?
(ps. This isn’t an invitation to any RDC waiting room billy bullcraps that might be out there!)
I enjoy a bit of graft. I can’t stand idly by watching people struggle. I muck in, even though i don’t get any more money from it, just my usual pay. It’s the self satisfaction that’s important to me.
I can turn up at several places now, and when a jobsworth starts getting himself warmed up, A colleague of his will give him a nudge and say “He’s alright”. Then it’s happy days.
and, no i don’t need the job.
I am scared of a bit of hard work. I want to keep my smooth hands that i got from working for the police

Pit ponies were bred for it,look where they are today!
It took 100,ooo men 20 years to build the Pyramids, no hard hats in those days.

Yeah but the fun growing up in the 70s in Barnsley area meant plenty of pit pony riding in the fields if they survived the retirement
